Chapter 7: On The Road, Probably Forever.

Everything got chaotic! Yeah we don't have the prison but at least everyone's alive... I hope.

"Matty, where are we going?" Kaden asked me. "To get us a house." I said walking over to one, seems to be abandoned.

I entered the house and put the girls behind one of the couches. "Stay here. No matter what happens." I said, standing up.

I walked over to the wall and banged my fist against it a couple times, the noise echoing throughout the house.

Only three walkers came down from upstairs, tumbling down. I ran over to them and quickly stabbed them in the head with my pocket knife.

I dragged the bodies one by one outside of the house. Once I did that, I told the girls to come out and we went upstairs to get settled.

I told the girls to stand behind me in case there were any more walkers. Luckily, there weren't any.

There were 4 rooms upstairs. A boys room, a girls room and parents. We all decided to go to the parents room since it was bigger.

I put my weapons on the desk and decided to give the girls a shower; we found there was still a little bit of water in their system, so why not use it to clean up?...

"Can we use bubbles?" Kaden asked with pleading eyes.

"Of course! We're humans not animals!" I said, searching through the cabinets. I found a bottle and dumped the contents into the bathtub.

I washed their hair and handed them toothbrushes and toothpaste.

After a while, they finally got out of the bathtub. "I feel so clean." Kaden said rubbing her skin. I chuckled and told them to stay in the bathroom until I come out.

After I finally took a shower we decided to get some new clothes.

Of course we first went to the girls room. Luckily the clothes weren't too big for them.

(Sky's outfit is on the left and Kaden's outfit is on the right.)

The only clothes is be able to wear were the dads, since the boys room was actually for a 13 year-old.

After getting changed, we went to go get some stale cereal. We all decided on Frosty Flakes since there weren't any others.

"That's the best food I've ever had yet." I said laughing, while putting the plate in the sink.

"Matty." Kaden said looking up at me. "Yeah?" I said, coming out more as a question. "Is Emely dead?" She asked.

I looked at her with tears in my eyes. "No. She's not. She's tough enough to keep herself safe, just like you guys." I said confidently, little tears falling out of my eyes.

Sky and Kaden smiled up at me, hugging me in the process. "Don't worry. I'll make sure you guys can meet her again. I'll do anything to keep you guys safe." I said, hugging them tightly.

"Let's go to sleep." I said looking down at them. They both nodded an we went upstairs and went to parents bedroom to sleep.

I changed into the dads clothes, which were big on me. And Sky and Kaden changed into the girls pajamas.

We all climbed into bed and went to sleep.

Running.

That's all we were doing.

Finally we stopped to build a shelter out of sticks.

"Pass me that fat stick." I said pointing to a stick on the ground. Taylor passed me the stick and handed to me.

I put the stick next to the tree and grabbed stick after stick. Finally, after what seemed like hours, we got the shelter together. All we needed to do was put a bunch of leaves on top.

We grabbed all grabbed a bunch of leaves and put them on the roof. "Nash come on." I said gesturing him to come in the shelter.

"Wow it's pretty cozy." He said lying down. "Yeah. It is." I said grabbing leaves and putting them into a huge pile.

Taylor came in with a bunch of leaves and put them on the ground. "I'm gonna go get some long, sharp sticks." Tay said crawling back out of he shelter.

Tay came in with a bunch of long sharp sticks and came back in. He took a stick at a time in the entrance, covering the gap, making sure that if any walkers came, they'd probably get stabbed.

"Now we can all sleep." Tay said, taking a sigh of relief. Knowing that we were safe, we all fell asleep in a matter of seconds.

Safe... That's what we were right now. And we're finally getting to relax.
