Jack
We woke up, following the same schedule as always.
We walked, and walked till dark. But before dark reached, we saw that life-saving sign.
YOU ARE NOW LEAVING....
We all smiled and looked at each-other.
"We made it." Shawn smiled and we continued walking.
We passed by another sign. Of course we all knew what it was, so we didn't bother to read it.
I checked my watch and saw that it was five minutes passed eleven.
We set camp off-road behind a tree right by the highway.
We made a fire and ate snacks. After, we fell asleep.
Once we did, Taylor took first guard.
-
Taylor had his knife in hand and gun in his back pocket.
He circled around us, searching each direction for any threat.
We were all huddled up together, some of us lightly snoring.
I saw Taylor stop and he had his gun gripped in his left, and his knife in his right.
I couldn't hear anything.
He got tackled to the ground and-but, nothing's on top off him. Fuck, I must be going crazy...
He kept on struggling, till I was finally able to move.
'A frigging step forward! Why the fuck would I only be able to go one step forward?!'
I opened up my eyes, rubbing them and stretching. "Fuck you too, dreams." I mumbled.
'Well, what, the actual, fuck?'
"Jack, your watch c'mon, I wanna go to sleep." Taylor said groggily, shaking me more. "Fine." I huffed and got up.
He quickly took my spot and fell right to sleep.
I wiped my eyes and got my gun, along with my flashlight and knife. It was still - well kinda - dark...
I circled around and round, not seeing a single threat. Besides a rabbit, which I killed... I was hungry!...
I put it in my bag and continued protecting my people.
I checked my watch and saw that it was 30 minutes past 5 AM.
'Times flies by when you're doing what you love. Nothing like watching over your friends so they don't die.'
Once I looked away, I saw the glow of light shine on the grass. I followed the trail with my eyes and it led to the road.
I looked up and saw the sun slowly and slowly rising up the horizon. I smiled as the sky turned into a combination of an orange, red, pink, and purple
I lightly laughed and went back over to the camp.
I leaned against the tree that sheltered us, pointing my gun at the distance, waiting for something to happen.
I checked my watch. "Just 50 past 6." I mumbled, sighing.
I went over to Beau and woke him up, saying it was his turn.
He got up and I took his spot, smiling to myself as I quickly drifted off to sleep.
Beau
I leaned against the tree as the wind slightly blew. I looked around, not seeing anything.
I yawned and rubbed my eyes.
"Fucking tired." I mumbled, yawning.
I waited and waited, time just passing by as I stood against the tree bored out of my mind.
I decided to wake up the guys and they all groaned.
"It's too early." Carter huffed. "Well it's go and fight, or be zombie bait, cause there's a fucking herd coming." I said lowly, but loud enough for them to hear.
They quickly gathered their things and fast-walked through the forest, right beside the road.
'Heh, lies, they get you a long way...'
Jai
We walked through the forest, heading in the same direction as always. Straight.
"Hey guys." Beau said, cutting the silence. "Yeah." Some of us said. "I lied." He said smiling widely, and nervously.
"You little-" I almost said but the groaning of zombies interrupted me.
'Well that's rude...'
We all looked at each other before running over to the street. We ran down the street, some of us occasionally shooting some of them down.
"Over here." James told us, pointing over to a wooden house.
We quickly entered the house, Cam, Beau, Jack, and I, held the door closed as the zombies tried to push it open.
"Hey! What do you guys think you're doing?!" A manly voice said loudly.
"There's a herd of walkers out there! This is the closest shelter we could find! We, are not going back out there!" Bree protested.
"Well, I do not give a single shit. You are not gonna stay in my shelter one minute longer!" He shot back, gripping his shotgun in his hand.
A shot was fired and he was down. "Daniel!" Luke yelled and shot the man down, wasting three bullets.
"Guys," Cam paused. "We got to go, take Daniel and hurry!" Cam told them.
Bree dragged the man's body over to the door and she opened it up, allowing the walkers to take his body outside to devour.
We ran out the back door and through the forest, following our destined road.
The zombie moans died down as we got farther and farther away.
I looked back and saw nothing but road. "Shit, that was close!" I said, catching my breath.
I turned around and saw everyone with sad looks on their faces.
"Fuck!" I mumbled and ran over to the guys surrounding Daniel.
I saw him. Gasping for air as he covered the bullet wound in his lung.
Shawn had tears in his eyes and shook his head. "I can't. No one can! We don't have anything to fix it. We can't fix it." He said sadly, and angrily.
We cried, and Daniel just slowly died.
We cried harder and they were hugging.
They had someone to hug but me. Then that's when I felt someone pull me into their tiny embrace.
It was Em. She was crying too...
I held her tightly as I sobbed into her shoulder.
"It's ok. It's not the end. The end, is happy. Never sad. And even if it is sad, then it's not the end yet." She whispered in my ear and I smiled weakly.
'Dé. Jà. Vu.'
