You had walked into school that day looking like a complete mess and Taehyung, your bestfriend, made sure to tell you just that when you sat down in front of him.
"You look like shit," he spoke bluntly.
"Yea, thanks, I definitely didn't notice," you said while rolling your eyes. You loved your best friend, you really did, but sometimes he couldn't read the room, like now. Taehyung, upon hearing your unusually snarky response, knew that something was up. Unfortunately, he wasn't very good at talking about feelings and shit so he offered to cheer you up the only way he knew how.
"Do you want to come over later and play video games? The new Fortnite season just came out. Or we can play PUBG!" You looked at him with an uncertain expression on your face. Although that sounded great, you really just wanted to go home and sleep after school. But Taehyung wasn't having any of that.
"Aww please y/n. We barely hang out anymore. Here, I'll even take you out for ice cream afterward! Pleaseeeee," he pleaded. You thought over it. He wasn't wrong, the two of you hadn't hung out in quite a while, and he did promise ice cream.
"Fine Tae, we'll walk to your house together."
After school, the two of you did walk to Taehyung's house together. The walk was silent and frankly, a little awkward. He knew that something was going on with you but he didn't want to pry in fear of you shutting him out. When you arrived at your destination, Tae immediately brought out the chair and controller that was saved just for you. You smiled at him as you took a seat, giddy at the fact that they were yours. Taehyung returned your smile, feeling accomplished as this was the first time he had seen you smile today.
And now here you were, in the middle of an intense game of Mario Kart, your tongue sticking out slightly from the side of your mouth. You had lost every game of Fortnite, Tae's fault, but you sure as hell were not going to lose this, especially to Kim Taehyung. It was a close game, Taehyung's kart just behind yours, and you smirked as the finish line came into view. In hindsight, you shouldn't have gotten too cocky. Because the next thing you knew, Taehyung was racing past you, crossing the finish line and beating you by a hair. You pouted as he did a victory dance, pointing at you and laughing.
"Hahaha, you thought you were going to win didn't you? Hehehe." You continued pouting as he bragged about how he was the "King of Mario Kart." Soon enough, your pout turned into a mischievous smile as you thought of something. Taehyung gradually stopped his laughter once he saw the look on your face. Uh oh.
"W-what's with that smile? What are you thinking about? Don't, Y/n. I swear-" he was cut off as you pounced. You leaped on top of him, your fingers going to his sides as you wiggled them relentlessly. Giggles upon giggles could be heard from his room and you worried that his parents would yell at you for being too loud. Nonetheless, you continued your attacks, not relenting until he begged for mercy. When you finally did let up, there were tears sliding down his face from his laughter.
"Damn, I didn't know you had it in you." You looked at him in confusion, prompting him to continue. "No one attacks the King, without punishment of course." Your eyes widened, but before you could protest he attacked.
It was your turn now.
After you calmed down from the previous activities, Taehyung brought you to your favorite ice cream parlor. It was the best in your small town and you loved it. The owner was extremely nice and the ice cream was delicious. You both ordered and paid, well Taehyung paid and opted for eating outside.
You smiled happily as you took a bite of your ice cream, focused on making sure the treat did not melt, and Taehyung, he was focused on you. He figured now was the best time to ask you about what was wrong.
"Y/n?" you let out a hum, letting him know that you were listening. "What happened? Is everything ok? Are...you ok?" You let out a sigh at his questions. You knew sooner or later he would ask, but you were wishing for later rather than sooner. You looked down at your hands in your lap, fidgeting with them, something you only did when you were incredibly nervous. Tae noticed and put a hand on top of yours, comforting you. "I'm always here if you need anything, but you gotta tell me what's wrong so that I can help you." You looked up at him, tears welling in your eyes.
"Anything?"
"Anything. Now, what's wrong?"
"Well..."
