I meant to get this out earlier, and not ten minutes before 5x09 aired, but this has already been a busy week, and as usual, I got carried away with this one shot.

This takes place after 5x08. Fangs and Cheryl lean on each other for support.

"Hey, Fangs." Toni said, walking through their apartment door. "No luck with Reggie, I take it?" She laughed.

Fangs took a swig of his beer before answering. "Nope, he is definitely one hundred percent straight." He didn't even look at Toni, just stared at the TV that wasn't even on.

"Is Kev not back yet?" She asked, sitting next to her friend on the couch.

A stray tear ran down his cheek. Toni could now see that his eyes were puffy and red, as she sat closer, putting an arm over his shoulders. "What happened?"

"Kevin, he...he came home and said...he said he wasn't ready. For any of this. And then he left." He started to sob and leaned into Toni. "What are we gonna do, T? I don't think he's coming back."

Toni rubbed his back, in an attempt to soothe him. She took in a deep breath and said, "We'll be fine, Fangs. It's always been us, right? Best friends til the end."

He nodded his head, against the woman's shoulder as he continued to cry. He felt like everything was falling apart. He just lost his boyfriend, his partner, the person he was supposed to grow old with.

"You wanna sleep in my room, tonight?" Toni asked. Fangs just responded with a nod and then went to lay in Toni's bed.

It was quite a few minutes later when Fangs had calmed down and asked, "Who did you end up with, at the party?"

Toni rolled her eyes, turning onto her side to face her friend. "Cheryl, of course."

"Oh. How'd that go?"

"Well, she was trying to prove something with that stupid party. She ended up taking me to a...nursery she put together for the baby."

"Oh." Fangs breathed.

"Hey, don't worry. Her behavior has been really off lately and I'm not sure I'll keep trying. It was a sweet gesture, but the fact that she threw the key party just to show me the nursery...it's fucked up. I don't want to raise a kid in Thornhill. I just wish Cheryl wouldn't try to pull me into her world, but instead would try stepping into mine."

"But you did want to. At one point." Fangs reminded her.

"I mean, yeah, but that was four years ago, when I first came back. Things change." It was quiet for a moment before realization hit her. "Wait, Fangs...what are you saying?"

Tears filled his eyes. If it wasn't for the bedside lamp being on, Toni wouldn't have seen them. "I'm saying... I'm...I don't really want to do this without Kevin. I can't be a single parent."

"You wouldn't be." Toni sat up on her elbow. "We'd be raising this child together. Our child. Even if Kevin is the biological father, you and I would be the ones raising it, if he wants out of the picture."

Fangs rolled over onto his back, looking and feeling completely defeated. He didn't know what to do. Toni rolled onto her back as well and was a little surprised when Fangs curled into her side with his head on her shoulder.

The next morning Fangs woke up to an empty bed. He furrowed his brows, thinking maybe Toni was making them breakfast. It was Sunday morning and she liked making a big breakfast for everyone, but he didn't smell food.
