What started as an innocent pen pal friendship in eight grade, soon grew into infatuation. Cheryl Blossom was fourteen years old when she realized that she was indeed in love with a girl.

The two keep in contact over the years and Cheryl plans to move from Riverdale, NY to Portland, OR for college, until Cheryl is forced into the ghoulish nunnery the Sisters of Quiet Mercy group home. Will she be able to find her way back to Toni?

I started writing this in May and honestly have no idea how it even came to mind. This will be short-ish - around 25k words and probably 4 parts.

In this first chapter we see how Cheryl and Toni meet and they learn more about each other as they continue to remain friends.

It was the end of the school year when Mrs. Sanders, the English teacher, had told the class that the pen pal assignment with another class across the country was coming to an end.

Cheryl was completely devastated. The girl she only knew as Toni Topaz had quickly and easily become her best friend even though they lived almost three thousand miles and forty-three hours apart. Of course she had learned this once her crush for the other girl had started, as she hoped to one day visit her best friend.

Over the years, Cheryl had saved as much money as she could. All of the money from every birthday and Christmas card, as well as the money she received from family and friends for eighth grade graduation. She put it all into a bright pink envelope that she had kept hidden from her parents, stuffed away in between the mattress and box spring of her queen size bed.

When Cheryl was sixteen, her parents allowed her to get social media accounts. The first person she found was Toni, who quickly accepted. They had each shared a photo at the beginning of the pen pal assignment, but Cheryl was absolutely in awe of the other girl.

Toni was stunning, there was no doubt about that. What was once dark brown, curly hair was now a mix of brown, pink and purple locks, and Cheryl was obsessed with the look.

The two would message each other back and forth almost constantly. Their handwritten letters had been replaced by thumbs moving across a phone screen, or fingers moving across the keyboard of a laptop. Occasionally, they shared a selfie or two. Cheryl wasn't too fond of her own appearance, with her mother always forcing her to wear gothic style clothing or tight dresses. Whenever she was alone and in her room, she was perfectly content with wearing sweatpants and a t-shirt. Of course, she had bought them from a Riverdale High football game with her own money, but she needed comfort.

Cheryl was extremely pleased that Toni seemed to enjoy posting selfies and pictures taken with her friends, all over social media. A few months later, Toni had posted a selfie with a boy named Tyler, who Cheryl had never seen before. Suddenly, it felt like there was a fire inside of her. A feeling she had never felt before.

Was it jealousy? It couldn't be. Cheryl had never been jealous of anyone in her life. People were jealous of her. She was a Blossom, after all.

A few months later, Toni had asked for Cheryl's phone number, which she gladly exchanged. A few hours after that, Cheryl was laying in bed, trying to sleep, when her phone started ringing. It was an unknown number, but she bit down on her bottom lip as she read the words under the number. Portland, Oregon. It was Toni.
