Coffee Shop AU

---

Cheryl had been drawing in her sketchbook for the last thirty minutes. Or she would have been if there was not a gorgeous brunette sitting at the table diagonally from her.

She had seen her a few times. The brunette always seemed to sit in the same spot and once she pulled out her laptop -with the occasional camera- she would move around to different seats. Cheryl assumed it was because of the glare from the windows.

It was the same reason she never sat by the windows when she brought her tablet to draw on for commissions. She learned that quickly and never returned to those tables, but the brunette kept going back.

Cheryl found herself staring at the other woman whenever she could. The brunette would stare at her laptop screen and when she got frustrated she would bite down on her bottom lip, or let out a groan of frustration.

The redhead wasn't sure what the other woman drank, but it was always a hot coffee or beverage, possibly hot chocolate. Cheryl found herself envying the cup that touched the other woman's plump lips.

Today was no different. Cheryl sighed to herself and continued working on the sketch in front of her. She wasn't sure how long she could keep pining over the woman by the windows.

She shouldn't even be surprised that she had stopped the drawing she was working on, flipping to a new page, and starting to draw the brunette as she worked. Cheryl wished she could move closer to get the curve of the other woman's lips perfectly.

After getting up for a refill, the coffee shop started to get busier. Cheryl checked her phone to see that it was almost 11am and knew that the brunette would be moving to a new table soon.

As the coffee shop filled with more patrons, and the mystery woman moved to her third table, it became too loud for the redhead. She reached into her bag to pull out a pair of earbuds and continued her drawing.

Suddenly, the smell of sandalwood and vanilla filled the air around Cheryl. She looked up to find the brunette standing across from her. Cheryl quickly shut her sketchbook and took out her earbuds. She could feel the heat of a blush covering her face and ears.

"Hi, uh...sorry to interrupt," the woman's voice was raspy as she held the back of her neck, obviously a bit nervous. "May I sit? The glare on my laptop is awful and there aren't any other available seats away from the windows."

"Please," was the only thing Cheryl could say as she mentally kicked herself.

The woman smiled, sat her laptop down on the table, and placed her bag onto the other chair. "I'm Toni, by the way," she said, extending her hand.

"Cheryl." The redhead extended her hand as well, feeling the warmth of the tanned hand she clung to. She realized the contact had lasted a bit too long and quickly pulled away. If Toni noticed, she didn't say anything.

"You come here pretty regularly, right? I think I've seen you here before." Toni asked.

"Yes. A few times a week. Just to get out of the house and relax a bit. I... I've seen you here, as well." Cheryl admitted, getting a smile from Toni.

"Well, it's nice to finally meet you. I should really get back to editing these photos."

It was quiet for a while. Cheryl went back to her previous drawing, a bit sad that she couldn't work on the one of Toni, now that she could see the woman close up.
