Two Hopeless Hearts

Season 5 vibes for this short one shot. Takes place when Archie comes back to town in 5x04.

I have no idea what this is, but it's something I've been thinking about for a few weeks, so here ya go. *shrugs*

It was a typical Friday night when Toni Topaz, the Serpent Queen, was putting on a performance at the Whyte Wyrm with her best friends Fangs and Sweet Pea when she saw a familiar redhead walking down the stairs. Archie Andrews, the hero of Riverdale was back in his hometown. Toni saw him from across the room while she sang, sending him a smile. Once she was done, she called him over to a corner booth, joined by Sweet Pea, Fangs and Kevin.

The group talked lightly about their high school days and what they had been up to since then. Toni told him how she got the Serpents back together and was now the Serpent Queen. Fangs told Archie about him and Kevin still being together, and how he and Sweet Pea drove trucks to earn money for the Serpents.

"So, you're uhh...pregnant." Archie spoke, looking at Toni.

The Serpent Queen smiled at the redhead man, "Yup. Sure am."

"Can I ask who the dad is?"

"You can, but I'm not going to tell you. It's a surprise."

Archie looked to the other guys at the table when Sweet Pea spoke up, "Yeah, man. She won't even tell us who knocked her up."

The group continued their conversation, talking about everything that had changed in the town, to catch the redhead up to speed.

"Whatever happened to Cheryl?" Archie asked, getting wide eyes from everyone at the table, except for Toni.

"Well, as you know, we broke up after high school. I went to Highsmith and she stayed here in Riverdale, rebuilding Thornhill with her Nana."

"Did you ever go to see her?"

"I did a few times, but...she always shut me out." Toni told him about how she had stopped by Thornhill a few weeks after she moved back after graduating college and the interaction she had with her ex girlfriend. "I went back a few months ago, but I haven't heard from her since," she only sort of lied. Archie and her friends didn't need to know the whole story. At least not yet.

They continued talking, Archie sharing some war stories, when Toni's phone chimed with a text.

Cheryl: Are you still coming by tonight?

Toni: Of course <3 Ran into someone at the bar, just catching up. I'll let you know when I leave.

"I'm actually going to head out, guys," Toni told the group of men as she stood up.

Fangs hummed in response, "Going out with your secret lover again, T? Prince Charming must be the father, huh?"

Toni rolled her eyes at her best friend, "Shut up, Fangs. I'll see you guys at home tomorrow. Or Monday." She walked away towards her office to change out of her dress and into some pants for the motorcycle ride to Thornhill.

Toni: I'm leaving the Wyrm, now. See you soon <3

Cheryl: Perfect. I'll start a bath, just come up when you get here. Drive safe, ma cherie.

That damn nickname. Toni smiled to herself as she pocketed her phone, put her helmet on and started her bike. It wasn't long before she was driving up the driveway of Thornhill, parking near the front door. After turning off her bike, she removed her helmet and used her key to unlock the large wooden door.
