I LOVE YOU FOR A THOUSAND YEARS

"Promise me you won't leave me behind." I saw her tears fell from her eyes.

I just cupped both of her cheeks and stared at her angelic face as if she was a masterpiece of a popular artist.

I promise I won't leave you. Because if you truly love someone, you won't leave nor abandon them."

She weakyly smiled, "Wait for me, okay? I love you."

I smiled as well, leaving a peck of kiss on her forehead. "I will, even if it takes thousand of years, even id takes forever. I love you most mi amor."

I wiped out my tears as I heaved a sigh. "I missed her so much. damn much," I whispered amidst nothingness as that moment flashed on my mind again.

And as what I've promised that time, I will wait.

"Hi, po kuya." My eyes slightly widen when a little girl greeted me. She has that pink ribbon tied on her hair.

Where did this girl came from out of the blue? Being puzzled, I just leaned down to see her face clearer.

"Yes?" I answered. I do not smile often, but right this moment, I will. Because if I don't, I might scare this little girl.

"Sa'n po ito?" She gave me a map and pointed out the location she's asking.

Agad akong natigilan nang makita kung saan ang lugar na iyon. I looked at her eyes, and stared at it.

My mouth gape in shock when I realized something. Dahil sa napagtanto, dagli ko siyang dinala sa lugar kung saan siya pupunta.

"We're here!" she joyfully said.

I smiled as I saw her eyes glimmering in happiness again, painted by positive thoughts.

I miss you, I miss you so much.

At that day, we bacame friends. She considered me as her Kuya, and everytime she needs help, I won't hesitate to help her.

Lumipas muli ang ilang taon, she's now a teen-ager, a fine lady to be exact. I'm still her so called 'Kuya'.

I've been waiting for about years, waiting for the right time, and I surely know now when will it be.

"What's the matter?" I felt my heart pounding hard, feeling worried on her. She has that facial expression that I cannot decipher.

But one thing that I'm sure is that she's not okay and something's bothering her. I know her well.

"I've got the lowest grade, my parents will kill me for sure." She then wiped out her tears.

I just gave her a tight embrace, hindi ko maiwasang matakot. Don't let histoy repeat.

"That's okay, don't pressure your self. Just enjoy being a teen-ager, don't worry about your grades. That doesn't define your intelegence, and being you. Don't mind them."

And as of that I heard her cry, I won't let them hurt you again, because I'll protect you this time.

"Thanks, kuya." She then slowly break free frol my arms, smiling as she stood up.

Yes, that's my girl.

Hindi pa rin siya nagbago, siya pa rin 'yong babaeng palaban na nakilala ko. She waved her hand and nodded, meaning that she'll be going ahead.

Ginantihan ko lang siya ng ngiti sabay tumango rin. Before she could turn her back at me, she smiled once again.

Those smiles, so genuine.

Still, I waited years, until she graduated college. I was the happiest man ever, seeing her happy, having positivities.

And now, this is the right time.

"Congrats." tipid kong usal, iniisip ko pa rin kung paano ko ipapaliwanag at sasabihin ang lahat.

I offered my hand which she immediately grabbed it and do the shake hands. Nakangiti siya habang nakatitig sa aking mga mata. Hindi ko maiwasang mapabuntong-hininga ng malalim.

I was about to utter, when all of a sudden she put her index finger on my lips.

"Shh, I knew it all along. I missed you too mi amor."

Para akong naestatwa dahil sa kaniyang sinabi. Hindi ako makapaniwala, how did she knew? "

Hindi pa man ako nakakaimik nang magsalita siyang muli. "Thanks for waiting, I pretended that I didn't know, but the truth is I knew it from the very start."

I didn't notice that my tears were streaming down my cheeks, not because of sadness but with joy.

She welcomed me with a warm and tight hug then we cried together.

"Thankyou for waiting and soorry that I left. Thanks for guiding me not to repeat history. I'm sorry I've got eaten by my emotions, come up to the point that I've commited suicide. Sorry, I love you, it's always been you. Sorry if you waited for so long." I cupped her cheeks and wiped out her tears using my thumb.

Hindi pa rin ako makapaniwala sa mga nangyayari. She commited suicide 'cause of her parent's expectations were too high, she couldn't reach it. Come up to the point that she pressured herself, sacrifice herself just to have a higher grades, just to make her parents proud of her. But then, she got depressed, I was there but it's too late. And that's the moment she told me to wait.

And I did. I've waited thousands of years just for her, my age doesn't increase. I did my very best, to protect her. To not let the history repeat, to change the plot of our sad story to an happy ending.

"I love you." she pressed her lips on mine.

I miss this, her lips. The iloveyou's, everything.

"I love you too." I uttered between our kiss, I even bit her lower lip, she did the same on mine.
