Piper Peregrine met up with her new friend Kaiden Donovan outside the Hilton Hotel the next day. It was the third and final day of the convention. Though it was somewhat sad, it was also not. Piper was filled with excitement and energy. Today was the day.
"Ready to have Jeremy as your very own?" Kaiden asked her.
"I am. Jessica might kill me, but it's Jeremy, and I'm getting Percy too, so she can have him. It'll be fine, right? I think so." She nervously laughed. She was excited, but also very nervous. She'd never committed a crime before.
However, Kaiden, it seemed, had.
Piper was getting more and more curious about Kaiden's life and his past. What exactly made him so calm and knowledgeable in this circumstance? He appeared to know a lot more than he was telling her. But he didn't seem dangerous. He just wanted Piper to be happy...so maybe he was just a caring guy who didn't know right from wrong.
Unfortunately, neither did Piper thanks to her feelings and her heart. But there was more to this Kaiden Donovan that Piper wanted to know about. She could find out later though. After all, they'd be sharing Jeremy, so they'd be hanging out more.
"Relax Piper, this is all fine what we are doing. We're just 'borrowing' Jeremy and Percy for a few days - or weeks - and then letting them go, it's no big deal. Nothing wrong with it."
Piper wondered if Jessica had discovered she was gone yet. And from that, she wondered if her friend knew where she was.
"You're right, Kai. Alright, so what's the plan?"
"First, we gotta act normal and use this small exhibition time wisely. Let's stake out a good room to use and then we can go watch the final two panels, like good fans. Then we'll see to the actual fun part of the plan. Sound good?"
"Alright. Lead the way, Kai."
Kaiden and Piper headed through the lobby and into the main hall. The ballroom where the last panel would be, was just to their right as they entered the big hallway where the booths were. There was another small conference room across from them on the left side. Kaiden peeked inside but shook his head.
"No escape door."
They continued on, rounding the entire first floor. At the end of the hall, there was another small room. But that one was the same story. As they returned to the lobby, Piper spotted a third room that was off the ballroom and it was against the right side of the hotel. She grabbed Kaiden's hand and led him over to it.
They peered in and Kaiden smirked. The room was tiny enough...and on the back wall there was a small door that led out. The young man walked inside the room and over to the door. He opened it and smiled even more.
"This is too perfect, Piper. Good spot. This leads out to the parking lot. Oh, those poor fools! It's as though they want us to kidnap a player!" He began to cackle wickedly and Piper couldn't help but join in.
Her heart was badly overpowering her mind. What was once a clear wrong, was now an obvious right!
Kaiden returned to the door to the room and made sure to crack it, so that people might think it was being used or off-limits. Just so they wouldn't lose their perfect spot. Then they left, snickering to one another and entered the ballroom, where some people were already gathered. They grabbed two chairs up close to the stage and sat down.
Within minutes the second to last panel had begun. It was just a short one introducing "baby Hawks" or the rookies/newcomers. It wasn't too exciting but then they got to the final panel which was one entitled, "Hat Trick of Trouble" with Jeremy Sagan, Percy Kane and Tyler Marchand.
