Chapter 11

You wake up and walk to the nursery. Elizabeth was trying to sit up and the boys were still sleeping. So you picked Elizabeth up and rocked her in your arms, holding her so your cheeks were touching.

Dark stood in the doorway. He was grinning at the sight before him. You, standing there, quietly singing a lullaby to your little girl. He silently crept in and made his way to the boys. After a minute, Zane started fussing. You turned around and saw Dark. "Oh my! I didn't know you were here!" Dark picked up the whiny Zane and rocked him in his muscular arms. Once Zane was back to sleep and in his crib, Theodore started to fuss. Dark picked him up and sniffed. "Ergh." You giggled. "You're changing duty!" He chuckled and carried the baby to the table, changing the dirty diaper. "Parenthood is hard work." Dark groaned with a hint of laughter. You giggled.

Soon, Elizabeth started to wail. You looked into her small, blue-green eyes. "Hi!" You spoke to her. "Little Lizzie, don't cry, Mama's here." Elizabeth's eyes sparkled in the faint dawning sunrise. You snuggled close to her. She quietly whined. "Are you hungry for breakfast, Lizzie?" You went for the mini-fridge and grabbed a pre-filled bottle of formula. You sat in the rocking chair and fed it to your baby girl. She drank slowly, finishing only half of the small bottle. You pulled her up and gently pat her back to help her burp. When you heard it, you got up and went to put her back down in the crib. She fell asleep, and so did Theodore, who was just put back to bed by Dark.

"I'm exhausted." Dark wiped his forehead. You giggled. "Shh... Let's leave them be." You both left the room and headed for your own. You slid back into bed and cuddled up beside Dark. "We're parents now. We're making a good life for our kids." Dark kissed your forehead. "They'll be lovely children."
