As soon as Ayame stepped into the cafeteria, her eyes searched the place. 'Where is he?!' She thought. Her eyes settled on Sasuke's usual table, but the Uchiha was no where in sight. Just his friends, Naruto, Suigetsu and Juugo.
She couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment when she realised he was gone. With a soft sigh, she followed after Sakura and Ino as they chatted excitedly about a school dance which was coming up.
Not once had she seen Sasuke that day. He'd stayed with her the night before, but was gone before she woke up. She hadn't seen him all day, and she was admittedly getting withdrawals from seeing his godlike face.
Ino's words dragged her back out of the dark recesses of her mind. "Wonder why Uchiha-san is sitting alone today?" She asked, humming to herself in thought.
"What? Where is he?" Ayame asked instantly, edging nearer to Ino. The blonde rose an eyebrow, before gesturing towards a small table near the back of the cafeteria with her head.
"Never mind why he's sitting alone...why the hell is he staring at us?" Sakura blinked twice, before turning back around so her back was to the Uchiha. Several people were also trying to spot a connection between him and their group, their eyes travelling back and forth between them.
Ayame bit her lip to remain silent. Coyly, she peeked over her shoulder, and locked eyes with him. It was only for a moment but she felt so relieved to see him. If only she could sit with him. They'd silently agreed to keep the don't be seen in public together rule.
"No, I don't think he's staring at us..." Ino spoke up, shaking her head. "He's staring at one of us in particular."
Ayame ducked her head. 'Don't say anything, don't say anything, don't say anything...'
When Ayame looked back at him, he lifted a hand, gesturing for her to go over to him. She blinked in surprise, her cheeks flushing.
"...he's staring at Ayame?" Ino asked, uttering confused. "Wait, what?"
"Well...it was great spending lunch with you, guys, but I gotta go." Ayame said quickly, and after paying for her lunch, swiftly turned away, heading towards Sasuke's table.
Unfortunately, Ino shouted after her. "You have to tell us everything!" She called, to which Ayame blushed and shook her head to herself.
When she reached Sasuke's table, she stood in front of it with a small frown. "What happened to the rule?" She asked, cocking her head to the side.
"What rule?" He asked with a smirk. It was obvious he knew what rule.
She rolled her eyes. "Was there something you wanted?"
"Your company. Sit." He said sternly, pointing to the chair in front of him.
She complied instantly, no questions asked. Setting her tray down on the table, she sat directly opposite him, leaning on her folded arms.
"Don't just stare at me. Eat." Was his next instruction, to which she rolled her eyes before picking up an apple and beginning to take a bite out of it.
"Someone's cranky today," Ayame commented, glancing at him as she brushed her hair behind her ear. "There a reason for that? Or have you suddenly developed a love for dominance?"
Sasuke chuckled. "Oh, I've always had a love for dominance, sweetheart,"
"You didn't answer my first question, aka, the most important one." She said, ignoring his past statement. She didn't want to know the definition of what he had just said.
