Hey, just a quick author's note before the chapter. I know the chapters are short and stuff, but I've been spamming updated recently. I don't think I've ever spammed 9 chapters in a row in such a short time before. It would be great if I got a few comments, guys. I want to know what you guys think of the story, and where you think it'll go. I mean, votes are all well and good, but I want to know what you guys think. There's no point in me posting this, otherwise.
This kinda sounds like I'm just being a batch (my word for female dog; I don't swear), but I would really love to see some comments. I got some lovely ones on chapter 1, but since then, none. I'm not going to stop posting this if I don't get comments or anything, because yes, I have matured since I did that with Grains of Sand (so childish 😅), but I'd love it if I got some feedback.
Okay, enough ranting. Enjoy the chapter!
"I'm really sorry about what happened," Ayame said softly as she gently placed a small sticking plaster to Shikamaru's cheek.
He fringed slightly. "Why are you apologising for him?" He asked, lifting his fingers to his cheek once she had turned to look for something else.
Ayame shrugged. "I feel the need to...can you keep a secret?" She asked, turning to look at him.
"Yeah, yeah," Shikamaru nodded eagerly. Usually he wouldn't be so into secrets, but this was Ayame. He'd listen to her secret.
"Sasuke-kun and I have been spending time together recently." She said with a small smile. She noticed how Shikamaru's shoulders slumped slightly. "I guess, because I had the power to stop him, I should have done it earlier. That's why I feel bad about this whole situation."
"Yeah, well, you shouldn't feel bad. It was him that punched me, not you,"
She reached out, tapping his cheek gently as she applied some cream. She then stuck another plaster over it. "Well, I do feel bad. I can't help it."
Shikamaru let out a small sigh. "You're just a good person, then, unlike Uchiha. Don't get involved with him."
"Trust me, I've told myself not to several times. But every time I push him away, he just keeps coming back, and I can't help myself but go to him. He just has this...thing about him which I like. I don't know what it is, but...it's really stupid and suicidal of me, isn't it?"
"Yeah." Shikamaru agreed instantly.
To this, she laughed. He chuckled along with her. Maybe it would be easy for him to convince her against her current path.
"You know..." Shikamaru began, but Ayame suddenly jumped to her feet.
"Crap, I let my phone in the classroom! I can't let my friends get it!" Hurriedly, Ayame shot for the door, obviously in a hurry to get to where she needed to be.
Shikamaru jumped up. "I'll get it for you!" He offered.
Ayame rose an eyebrow at his uncharacteristic eagerness. "Oh, okay then...thanks. I'll pack everything away here,"
"By the way, Ayame..." Shikamaru turned, looking over his shoulder. He smiled awkwardly as he rubbed the back of his head. "Would you wanna go out sometime? I know it's sudden, but...you know..."
"Oh..." That explained Shikamaru's eagerness, as well as how shy he'd been acting earlier. "Uhm...how's about I think about it, and give you an answer when you come back?"
Shikamaru nodded, before disappearing out of the door.
"That was sudden..." Ayame breathed under her breath, before shrugging and beginning to put everything she had found in the first aid kit back into the box.
