"I'm really sorry about everything that happened. I shouldn't have ended things...I was just afraid, as much as it hurts me to say that. But I can see it in your eyes, y/n, you aren't her. That soldier inside of you is gone forever, your book burned with the rest of the facility. And I want to—"
Your phone buzzed with a call from Pepper.
"I need to take this," you said. "Can you take me back to the hotel? It's getting a little late and I don't want Sam to worry."
"Okay," he nodded, slight disappointment in his voice.

It had been a few hours since you'd hung up on your mom. Happy was right; Tony was improving fast.
You sat upright in your bed next to Sam's, completely unable to sleep. You'd told Peter that you'd talk things out in the morning since the exhaustion of the day was getting to you, but now you felt like you couldn't wait.
You got out of bed, your feet padding softly on the carpet. You tried to be as quiet as possible as to not wake Sam.
The door creaked as you opened and closed it, scanning the hallway for a teacher or security guard.
Peter's room was across the hall and down a few rooms. You knew lying awake all night wouldn't be a good idea, and if anyone could get you to calm down, it was Peter.
You walked up to his door and raised your hand to knock. You'd thought about texting him, but talking would be easier in person.
Before you could knock, Peter opened the door. His eyes were red from exhaustion, and a few small cuts from earlier littered his face.
Your eyes were wide, staring directly into his. His jaw relaxed and he began to stutter.
"H-hey. I was j-just about to—uh—check on you. Thought I should text, but—"
"Me too," you answered, your voice catching in your throat. There was so much left unsaid.
"You want to come in?" he asked. Simple words that held so much power. So much weight.
