You scrambled up off the ground and Peter's mask covered his face again. It was hard to see him in the dark and you lost sight of him within a few seconds.
The elemental prepared for another strike, raising its arm over you again.
You began running away from the ferris wheel in an attempt to draw the monster away from Betty and Ned, but it didn't seem very interested in you.
It had turned away from you and now faced Mysterio, who had appeared in your line of sight.
Better him than you right now. He at least had powers that were useful in defeating a lava-monster; super-strength couldn't help you there.
You jumped up on a low metal bar leading to the top of the ferris wheel and climbed up each rung with as much speed as you could manage.
You saw a flash of orange light and saw the monster heading straight for the ferris wheel again.
"Horrible, horrible timing," you huffed.
The ferris wheel was in its grasp only a second later. It got horribly hot, just enough to burn but not scald your hands.
The whole structure was coming down now, teetering from the left to the right until your body was heading straight for the ground.
You looked up at your friends helplessly, trying to figure out the right angle to position yourself so that they wouldn't fall out.
Your feet dangled below you and hit the ground at a horribly painful angle, forcing your arms to carry most of the weight.
Your powers were rusty, that was for sure. The wheel was starting to crush you; the weight and heat of it sending nauseating pain through your whole body.
Molten lava broke through the concrete around you, spreading until a smaller rift opened just in front of your toes.
Suddenly the wheel was pulled upright again, your hands still gripping the metal bar for dear life. Your sore legs hung in the air as it straightened itself up.
"Y/n!? Y/n, are you dead!?" you heard from above you.
"Just fine," you groaned, forcing your arms to pull you up another rung.
The monster was distracted again and you used the opportunity to get higher onto the ferris wheel. You didn't have much of a plan, but this was at least keeping your friends alive.
Something slammed against your body roughly, sending you flying through the air.
You weren't given any time to panic as strong arms placed you back onto the ground.
You recognized that feeling. "Peter, what the hell!? Ned and Betty are still—"
"I've got them," he said, preparing to fly back off.
"Peter I can help—"
"Y/n, look at me," he said firmly, his mask moving away for the moment. "I know you can fight, okay? I know you want to help. But please, for my sake, for Fury's sake, for your mom's sake, sit this one out. Please."
You looked back up at Ned and Betty who were leaning over the edge towards the monster, oblivious of you and Peter.
"If you try not to get hurt, for my sake," you responded. "Get them down to me and I can take it from there."
He was silent, only giving you a look of understanding and agreement before swinging up to the top of the ferris wheel.
He cut one of the webs holding the ferris wheel up until it was close enough for the two of them to jump.
