I watched as Michael's eyes locked onto Kayla's hips as she walked away. He always had the hots for her, but now she was mine. I watched as his lips formed into a circle formation. He let out a loud, obnoxious whistle.
My mouth formed into a frown and something in me snapped. I felt my face start to sweat, and I could feel the beads or sweat running down in the creases of the back of my neck. My fist made contact with Michael's shoulder. I watched as he staggered backwards, almost tipping over.
"Ow, what the hell was that for,' he winced as he rubbed his hurt arm. I ignored him as I continued to watch Kayla as she strode away. I figure she would have the nerve to say something and turn around, but she didn't. She only made one swift movement with her hand revealing her bony middle finger.
I turned back to face Michael. I smirked. The other guys in the group snickered at the little incident that just happened.
"What the crap was that for? I thought we were bro's? You know, like the saying bro's before hoes?"
"First of all we were never bro's. The only reason you ever hung out with me during high-school was because you always bummed a ride from me after school. Don't call me your bro. Second, she's not a hoe. Show some damn respect, and you always wondered why I ended up with the girl; now you know."
His mouth gaped open in shock. He definitely didn't expect that coming, but karma eventually catches up with the people that deserve it. I shrugged my shoulders, "some people never grow up 'bro', you should try it sometime."
I slipped my hands in my jean pockets and headed to where Kayla was at. She was probably mad at me for talking to Michael, she never liked him anyway.
I scanned the line leading to the food booth. There was no sign of Kayla anywhere. Maybe she was already on her way back to where I was standing. I picked up my pace as I walked towards the ship. She was probably there right now wondering where I was at.
Shockingly she wasn't there either. This time I started to get a little worried. I was probably just being paranoid though. She was probably talking to Betty or someone like that. Betty came everyday during the time the fair was going on.
I took off walking around the fairgrounds. "Step right up! I'll give you the first shot for free, the charge is on me.' a scrawny guy with shaggy blond hair asked as he twirl the basketball on the tip of his pointer finger.
I hesitated at first, but saw a prize that Kayla would love. Also, this would make a couple of minutes go by to help get my mind off of things.
He threw me the ball as I stepped on the platform. I dribbled the ball a couple of times before shooting. I squared up and flung the basketball towards the basket. I watched as the basketball bounced off of the rim.
"Would you like to try another round." the man questioned. I groaned but pulled two one dollar bills out of my pocket. I handed him the crumpled bills and placed the ball in my hands. I was never really a fan of this game, but I needed to win this for her. She would absolutely love it.
I aimed for the backboard and hope for it to somehow go in. That's what coaches always say right, to aim for the backboard or the box?
I watched as the ball ricocheted perfectly off the board landing in the net. I grinned. The man looked amazed. He obviously didn't think i was going to make it in; they probably had this game rigged somehow.
"Pick any prize from the wall," the man stated. I quickly chose which one I wanted. The man handed over the life size version of Spongebob. It was heavier then I imagined it being. I turned to thank the man over my shoulder as I walked in the opposite direction.
It felt like everyone was staring at me as I struggled to carry the stuffed figure through the crowds of people. I now thought of how ridiculous it would look to see a twenty year old carrying Spongebob around. I rolled my eyes as I continued to squeeze through the people.
I finally found a open spot and decided to stand there. I place the toy on the ground next to me, and folded my arms across my chest. I Kayla really wanted to find me she would have to come look for herself.
I waited patiently as the minutes ticked by. I began to feel guilty about not walking with her to go get the food. I should of just stuck to the plan.
My plan when we first arrived here was to immediately get in line for the Ferris Wheel. When we reached the top I would then take her by her hand and ask her out. Then she would know that we were officially dating, well even if she did say yes. If she did reply back with a yes I would of then kissed her passionately on the lips. Yeah, I know it sounded pretty corny, but she was a corny person.
I had a woman shout my name from behind me, snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned to face the voice. It was Betty and she looked scared.
"Jake, Christopher and Kyle are fighting at the top of the hill! You have to come watch it!' she wheezed in between breaths. She must of ran the whole way down here. Why the heck were them two fighting anyway. They were brothers for Jesus sake.
"But i have to go and find Kay--," but before I even had the chance to deny she grabbed me by the arm and tugged me through the crowd. We occasionally ran into a few people causing them to curse under their breath.
