Kate walked around the table, hiding the bracelet behind her back, and stretched out to see who was entering the door.

Claire giggled and moved on her side, letting the “guest” walk in.
It wasn’t a human, it wasn’t an adult with evil eyes which Kate expected to see, neither the peaceful face of the kind doctor Main. It was…

- Katie? Are you there?

The girl immediately recognized the voice that just spoke.
- Magic!

The German Shepherd ran in wagging his tail,. Kate kneed down and hugged her doggie, energetically rubbing his back and sides, letting him licking her face.
- What are you doing here?

Another dog entered the office, after having smelt Claire’s hands with suspiciousness. It had gray long fur, which made him look like a Schnauzer. He wore a nice green collar on his neck, while two lively purple eyes were studying the environment.
- Wallace!
- Hello Kate!

- What are you two doing here?
Kate noticed that Wallace had a pet-sized brown crossbody bag around his neck. The dog smiled, lowered his head and gently let it fall on the ground, making a jingling noise.
- I think this is for you.

The young human got it on one hand and opened the weird lacing: inside there was a serie of flasks and ampoules, filled with liquids and colored substances which reflected light and appeared to shine by themselves.

- What is this?
- After some minutes you had left, a dog came and gave us that. She told she was a Chosen One and Princess Ava asked him to bring that bag to us before joining her owner, and that it was for you.
- Uh? Really?

- What is it, Kate? - Clairee kneed down on her side, rubbing Magic’s head, and looked inside the bag. She made a surprised face:
- Are those…?
- Yes! We got what we needed to save Eva!

                       °•*•°

Kate, Magic and Wallace were sitting around the pet-sized bed where Eva was lying.

The girl was looking at the vet, who had never stopped tinkering with Ava’s potions since put her hands on them.
She was taking off some tubes from the cat’s body, writing down parameters to compare with what was written on the Secret Book, dosing colorless medicines and lively magic mixtures.
She used syringes and medical tools with maestry and safety, but also being careful and paying all the attention at the same time.
She exactly knew what she was doing, and it was something she loved and she was born to do.
Kate could say she was for sure as competent as doctor Main, but much more fast and meticulous than him.

- It’s almost done. - said, after a long time spent in silence - Do you have the Shell?
- Yes! - Kate took the conch from her small pouch and raised it, smiling.
- Call Ava and tell her we are ready. From now, we need to be fast and reactive: Eva’s life depends on how many seconds we waste.

Kate sneaked into the bed and noticed that the big tubes were still in Eva’s mouth, tight to her teeth.
- Can’t she breathe by herself yet?
- I still can’t take them off, or she will miss oxygene. - Claire took off gloves from her hands - If my studies are right, she is supposed to improve a lot when she’ll reach the enchanted atmosphere in the Pocket Kingdom. Maybe she’ll be able to take enough Magic-Chemical energy from it but I really hope she won’t have a breakdown due to the decompensation of power. -

She looked up at the little girl and noticed her confused and worried expression.

- What does it mean?
- It means she has a good probability of making it through the trip. - smiled the woman.
- Really?
- Now call Ava, we haven’t much time.
