Ambra was the only one close to the Shell and clearly heard Kate’s voice coming from it, shouting.

- Princess! Princess! - neighed.

Ava turned back, surprised, and then looked back at the Ocean of Friendship, which was already flying to the obelisk.
- No, wait! - screamed - Come back, come back!

The jewel didn’t stop its run, totally untouched from the monarch’s order.

- Wait, wait, wait! STOP RIGHT NOW! - her desperate meowing made a echo in the empty field, whose silence was broken only by a far-away song.

The Ceremony music, distorted and disturbated. Something was wrong, terribly wrong.

Ava felt a deep, sharp pain in the centre of her chest.

Don’t you dare” said something inside her, just like her own could could speak.

The princess staggered, feeling her mind falling into a black hole, losing the control of the situation.
She was moving into water, through a dream, a nightmare which was eating her.

Just like the last time, when she was scared during the Friendship Ceremony.
No, it wasn’t a panic attack, it wasn’t a depersonalization episode: the Ocean of Friendship was controlling her, stopping her from interfering with the Ceremony.

She was nothing more than its puppet, she was deadly chained to its will.
Otherwise, death. It was the Oath she accepted years before, during her coronation.

No. said.

No, she wasn’t a puppet. She didn’t want to be a puppet.

She didn’t want to obey, she didn’t want to stay there. Not while her sister needed her.

It wasn’t possible. Her sister couldn’t die.

Eva’s face, her sweet and familiar face, appeared into her mind.

And this was enough to wake her up from that dream.

- You can’t… control... ME! - shouted.
Then, just like a deja-vu, she jumped to the jewel.

                              °•*•°

A smaller figure walked out from behind a tree.

A cat, whose head was covered by something.

She moved fastly, without a single noise, but her scent reached Eva’s nose behind anything else.

- Good job, my dear. - said - I’m proud of you.
- You…

The cat moved on her sight and she finally could see the picture inside her head materializing.

Talia was smiling, a creepy and psychotic smile shined by her yellow eyes.
Her hat was perfectly set on her head, but she wore no collar.

On the other hand, her fur was covered by something else: a dark blue substance.

- You killed them…

- No, sweetie - smiled Talia - We killed them.

Eva fell on the ground.

She felt her existence slowly slipping away, to the darkness of the fire.

As last, she thought about Ava, about her sweet cinnamon snout with blue eyes, about her personality, about her voice...

In a moment she could live again all the memories lived with her. All the fights, the tears pour together, all the laughs, all the smiles...
