Scott POV

I sit in the sheriff's office waiting for him.

Parish told me that he should be back soon and that I should just wait for him in here.

My leg bounces up and down while I wait, thoughts of what could've happened to my mom fill my head.

What if she's dead? What if my dad killed her because WICKED told him to? Would he even do it? Would he cross that line? Of course, he would, there's nothing he wouldn't do for some money.

I look around the sheriff's office again and I see a picture of Stiles on his desk. I lean closer to study the picture, it must have been taken three years ago.

He's sitting on the hood of his jeep with a burger. It doesn't look like he knew the sheriff took this picture but he looks happy.

I haven't seen that in a long time.

The door opens and the sheriff walks in looking exhausted. He collapses into his chair behind his desk and closes his eyes.

 I clear my throat. "Sheriff?"

The sheriff's eyes shoot open in surprise and he fumbles for his gun before noticing it's me and not some criminal.

"Scott? What are you doing here, I thought you lot were leaving today?"

"We are it's just...I couldn't leave without knowing if you found something out about my mom."

The sheriff shakes his head looking defeated. "I have nothing. I stopped by your dad's office but there was no sign of a disturbance there and they won't let me check the security footage unless I get a warrant."

"So there's nothing you can do then?"

The sheriff looks at me with pity in his eyes. "I'm sorry Scott, we don't have any proof she even went to see your dad before she went missing so getting a warrant is going to be impossible."

This is just what WICKED wanted. They took my mom and left no clues as to where she was or even where she was grabbed.

"WICKED'S thorough I'll give them that." He says while shuffling some papers around on his desk.

"But you'll keep looking? While we're gone, you'll keep looking for her?"

"Of course I will Scott, Melissa's a friend so I won't stop until I find her."

He motions towards the door. "You should get going Scott, don't want them to leave you behind."

"Yea you're right, I guess I'll see you when we get back then."

I stand up and begin walking towards the door.

 "Scott."

I turn around and look at the sheriff. "You make sure you bring my boy back alright?"

"I won't come back without him, I'm not going to abandon him. Not again."

He nods seeming pleased by my answer. "Ok, good luck Scott."

I smile and open the door, I step outside the sheriff's office ignoring Parish's stare.

We chose to leave him out of this because he's needed here. If he found out we were leaving to go on a rescue mission then we would have no chance of convincing him to stay here. He'd want to come with us and while having a hellhound on our side would be nice, he's still not fully in control of his hellhound side and if he were to lose control in a confined space...
