You walked out of your third period class, ready to go for lunch when you noticed someone sitting all alone in the school garden. Upon closer inspection, you realised that it was Sero from Class 1-A. Seeing him sitting there, all alone on the bench, reminded you of the events that took place two days ago.
Class 1-A was attacked by the league of villains during their time at the USJ. You couldn't imagine how terrifying it must be to go through such an experience. You slowly walked up to where he sat and he glanced up as you approached.
"Mind if I take a seat," you asked, clutching your bag, nervously.
Sero's face broke into a small smile as he patted the spot next to him."Sure!"
You sat down, placing your bag on the ground next to you before turning to look at him again. Your smile quickly died down, noticing the frown on the other's face. You wanted to talk to him about what happened, maybe ask him how he was but you also didn't want to stress him out more than he already was.
"Hi, I'm (Y/N) from Class 1-B," your voice cheerful as you reached a hand forward to shake with him.
"I'm Sero from Class 1-A," he said in response, shaking your hand. He pulled his hand away, staringat the distance."Not that you already know by now."
"Oh, um yeah. I heard," you stuttered between your words, looking down at your hands."I'm so sorry for what happened to you and your classmates."
"Well, we survived nonetheless," he scoffed.
You sighed, tilting your head to look at him. You remembered the first time you saw him. He was hanging around with a bunch of his other classmates, laughing and making jokes. The way that he was acting now made you realise how much this had affected him.
"It must be hard," you said."Going through such an experience. I wish there was some way I could help you feel better."
"You're right, it was hard," he said, finally turning to look at you."And not gonna lie, I was scared too."
"I mean, who wouldn't be scared to see so many villains all at once," you pointed out, trying your best to make him feel better.
"But a hero shouldn't be afraid," he whispered as if ashamed of what he was saying.
"That's not true," you protested, getting up all of a sudden, making him look at you with shock."Heroes protect us. They fight villains everyday just to keep us safe but that doesn't mean that they're not scared. They are scared but they know that they have to push past that and you did that too, didn't you? You were scared but you kept fighting because you knew, you knew that you had to help your classmates."
You closed your mouth, shocked at your own words. It was true that you wanted to make him feel better but you doubted that yelling at him did the job. You looked down at where he was sitting, his eyes still stuck on you in shock. You looked away, too embarrassed at your recent outburst.
"I-I shouldn't-"
"You should try competing in a debate competition." he said and you looked at him. Your eyes lit up in joy, seeing a genuine smile on his face that didn't seem at all forced."You would probably get first place."
"You think?" you said, giggling a bit. You were happy to see a smile on his face, it brought you a sense of joy."I would probably need you standing in front of me so that I can accomplish that."
"What's that supposed to mean?" he asked, genuinely confused.
"N-nothing," you muttered coming back to sit with him."So, how about we get lunch?"
"Are you asking me out on a date?" he asked, teasingly.
Your eyes widened in surprise as your cheeks turned bright red. You could tell that he noticed, the smirk on his face said pretty much everything. You took a couple of deep breaths, regaining your composure before looking at him again.
"It's lunch time right now and I wanted to know if your stomach demands food," you finished your statement, happy that you didn't stutter at all.
"Yeah, I could eat," he said, getting up from the bench before offering you a hand.
You two walked to the cafeteria which was filled with students from different classes. You were about to walk to the lunch line with Sero when someone shouted from behind you two.
"Sero!" a boy who you remembered to be in the same class as Sero shouted. He was one of Sero's friends and you remembered his quirk to be electricity."You didn't tell us you had a girlfriend."
You felt your cheeks heat up again, hands shaking as you felt Sero let out a small chuckle from beside you.
"There's a lot more I haven't told you!" Sero shouted back before squeezing your hand and walking to the lunch line.
Your blush didn't go away as badly as you wanted it to. People were staring you two as you guys walked past, probably hearing the conversation Sero had with his friend. Sero didn't deny the rumour that his friend put on and even so, why were you okay with that rumour?
