mercy. the saints always did have a sense of humour. a name that repulsed her, a past that haunted her and a constant reminder of the only thing she could never give.

she was never suited for the honour of a solider, cursed to run until her last breath, until she became the very waves on which she built her new life. a captain's life. a coward's life.
she'd won the immaculata from between the eyes of her old captain - a man who delighted in underestimating the slight stowaway. that was until he fell on the end of his own sword at the will of the girl who in her silence had the power to control his blade better than he ever could. he found no mercy in her.
and with the first blood she embraced her name, one final taunt to the saints who had turned their back on her from the moment she was born.

yup. another one. i have a legitimate addiction to the grishaverse and with rule of wolves out my love for nikolai is so strong that i can't help but publish this. hopefully this will keep me company until april 23 :(
also, feel free to imagine nikolai as whoever you want. personally, robert wilde has always been my favourite pick for my favourite lantsov but i know people might not agree
