The two soulmates finally arrive at Yujin's apartment and Jungkook looks around with wide eyes.

"Dumpling, I didn't expect your house to be this clean..."

She turns around with bright red cheeks, "Jeon, STOP CALLING ME DUMPLING"

Jungkook only snickers slightly at her outburst. He walks around and picks up a discarded photo on Yujin's counter. It's a picture of her and two other people.

These must be her parents! Why do they look so familiar...?

Before he can look closer at their faces, Yujin snatches the photo away and scowls, quickly scolding him before hiding the photo in a random drawer next to her.

YUJIN POV

Did he see?

What does he think?

I can't have him pitying me...!

My breaths come in short gasps as I think about everything that can happen if Jungkook figures out about my parents. My thinking stops short when a hand grabs my shoulder.

"Are you gonna make me ramen or what?"

Jungkook is looking at me smugly and has a teasing glint in his eyes, along with another unknown emotion...

He huffs and takes the pot away from me, pushing me and standing in front of the stove instead. He elegantly chops up some vegetables and expertly adds them into the ramen that's being boiled.

How does he know how to cook?

"My mom taught me" He laughs awkwardly. My eyes widen.

Did I say that out loud?

"Say what out loud?" He mumbles.

I take a step back and cover my mouth.

"what is she rambling on about? does she not like these vegetables-"

"No, I love them" I smile a bit at him cooking.

Suddenly, he drops his chopsticks and stares at me with furrowed brows and an open mouth.

"What?" I panic at his state.

"I didn't say that out loud!"

"Huh?" I answer back dumbly.

He looks around before making eye contact with me.

"Yujin... we can hear each other's minds!"

WoAh wOAh WOah. Hold on a damn minute. Is he a lunatic?

"No, I'm not, thanks" he glares at me.

"This is one of our soulmate abilities?"

"Yep" he says, popping the 'p'.

He continues, "But we only hear each other sometimes, when something important is happening, like now"

I nod with understanding.

Out of all abilities, we have to share this one? I don't want to hear his idiotic thoughts.

"I heard that"

Good.

He scoffs and shakes his head.

"Jungkook, do you not have a single thought in your mind right now? Cause' I can't hear your thoughts"

He smirks before answering, "Nah, my parents have the same ability, so I know how to block you off from my thoughts"

"That's not fair!"

He purses his lips in attempt to hold back a smile. Whatever.

He finishes cooking and puts the pot in the middle of the table, motioning me to dig in. I thank him and put some into my own bowl.

We eat in silence before he finally speaks.

"How's the food?"

"Good" I mumble with food in my mouth.

I continue, "Do you always co-"

I'm interrupted by my phone ringing loudly. I check the caller ID and my blood runs cold, Dad.

The same man who abused me after my mom left before finally sending me off to live alone legally. We haven't talked in years, so why is he calling now? I hastily decline and head back to Jungkook.

He looks normal, so that means he didn't hear my thoughts. Thank goodness.

We act as normal, insulting each other and teasing. It's not the same as before though, there's some sort of hidden emotion behind our actions. Is this the bond?

Realizing the time, I stand up and dust myself off.

"Jungkook, it's late, so go home now"

He nods and offers to help clean, to which I decline and start pushing him out of the apartment.

I grab his wrist and lead him out and we both visibly relax at our contact and the warm feeling it gives.

"this feels nice. I should ask her to do this more often..."

"Don't you dare" I mumble after hearing his thoughts.

He laughs and waves to me, calling a taxi and leaving.
