You woke with a start. Looking around, you remembered where you were: in the spare room of The Lord Marshall's chambers, on a Necromonger ship, going who knows where. Taking a deep breath, you sat up. Suddenly, the lock to the door sounded, and you shot up and out of the bathroom before the door could open.
You were expecting Vaako to enter, or maybe a servant or guard, but it was none of them.Dame Vaako slowly entered the room.
Obviously surprised, the Dame chuckled lightly.
"Surprised to see me," she asked, and you nodded slowly.
You felt she was a dangerous woman; more dangerous than the Necromongers and The Lord Marshall. She wore a dark grey dress this time and it hugged her body much like the last one did. Her hair was still up, but she also wore dark gloves that went with the dress. She was a proud woman, it was quite obvious, but there was something more to her... something much darker.
"Well, Breeder, I'm just here for a little talk," she stated. "I'm trying to figure something out."
Confused, you looked at her, then you sat on the bed. She sighed, then with a smile she continued to speak.
"My husband is a brute of a man. I mean he has to be. Being The Lord Marshall is a tough job, but what I want to know is why does he have so much interest in you. I know he said that the Quasi-Dead wanted you protected, but I don't know why he's keeping you here specifically."
You shook your head.
"I... I don't k-know," you said.
The Dame huffed in annoyance, then he looked at the ground, as if thinking. She looked back at you and smiled.
"Is there anything you saw while the Quasi-Dead scanned you," she asked softly.
You shook your head.
"I'm not special," you said. "I g-grew up in New Mecca."
The Dame chuckled a little bit.
"But you are half Furyan," she stated.
You sighed, and looked down. You never knew who your father was. He'd left back to his home world before you were born, then he was never heard from again. That was all you knew of your father. You'd always wanted to know, but your mother would never answer your questions about him. She'd always say, "One day, when you're ready, I'll tell you who your father was." However, that never happened.
The Dame looked at you with confusion."You did know you were half Furyan, right," she asked.
You nodded your head 'yes', but how did that make you so special? There were many in New Mecca who were half breeds or complete mixes of races.
"Furyans are rare," Dame Vaako stated. "The Lord Marshal Zhylaw killed nearly every single male Furyan."
You audibly gasped causing Dame Vaako to chuckle.
"I'm surprised you didn't know of this," she said.
You shook your head, and Dame Vaako nodded. Just as she was about to speak again, the door opened, and Lord Vaako, wearing his armor, stepped into the room. Upon seeing his wife, he grew tense, and a scowl went across his face."What are you doing here," he asked his wife.
Dame Vaako turned to look at her husband.
"I could ask you the same thing," she stated.
You felt like you'd been caught between them. They obviously had a hate toward one another, and it was making the air tense.
"I came here to get answers," he hissed.
Dame Vaako chuckled.
"As did I," she said calmly. "However, I don't think I'm going to get answers to the questions I asked."
Dame Vaako looked back at you with a smile.
"I'll see you again sometime, Breeder," she said before she turned and walked out of the room.
This left you and Vaako alone.
The Lord Marshal sighed, then he looked at you. He could see the fear in your face, even as you tried to hide it.
"I apologize for my wife," he said calmly. "She tends to stick her nose where it shouldn't be."
You just looked at Vaako with a blank face. You really had no clue as to how to react to him. He was terrifying in a way, but there was also something else... something you could quite figure out.
"Now, I'm going to ask you something," he stated.
You kept staring at him, then he came closer to you. You slowly backed up on the bed until your back was against the headboard. The Lord Marshal brought himself as close to you, but he didn't get on the bed, nor did he touch it. After he stopped net to the bed, he took a breath and spoke in a low voice.
"Why do the Quasi-Dead want you protected?"
