The Purifier's Curiosity

You stayed in the Necromonger's med bay for days. You weren't exactly sure as to how many days it was, but you knew it had to be days. The only visitor you had was the older Necromonger woman who cared for you. You learned her name was Malik, and she had been converted when she was a child. She took pride in her job, but many soldiers didn't like to visit her.
It was considered weak to visit the Doctor here. It made sense, but if one cant feel pain, then they could have a terrible wound and not really know it.

It was nearing what you guessed was the end of the day, and the Purifier came into your room.

"Hello," he said.

You stared at him with big eyes. You tensed up immediately, and kept your senses focused on him.

"My name is Irklak," he continued. "I'd like to speak with you."

You didn't speak. Keeping your eyes sharply on him, he gave you a small smile.

"I'm not a threat," he simply stated. "Course, why would you believe me. You don't know me."

He took a seat in a chair near the door.

"I wish to speak to you about my Lord Marshal. I've got a few concerns," he hissed.

   You nodded.

Maybe I could get answers of my own, you thought.

"Okay," you said.

Irklak huffed, and then he smiled before he spoke.

"I've noticed that Lord Marshal Vaako has some sort of... interest in you. I saw it the moment they pulled you from your cell, and he looked upon you."

You swallowed, and waited for him to continue.

"I know you're half Furyan. I thought maybe that was why he had interest in you because our last Lord Marshal, Riddick, was Furyan."

Riddick, you thought. Vaako whispered that name after you told him of the vision you saw.

"Who was Lord Marshal Riddick," you asked.

Irklak sighed, then he folded his hands together.

"Many believe Lord Marshal Riddick should never have taken the position. He was not a Convert. He was a Breeder, and after he took the position, he still did not convert," Irklak began. "Riddick is probably one of the last male Furyans. He's very dangerous, and is probably tracking us down. Lord Marshal Vaako took the position after he sent a Commander to kill Riddick. Vaako went to the Underverse... like a true Lord Marshal should. Riddick came for him then, but we managed to throw him from the ship... barely."

You looked down at your hands.

There's a lot to take in, you thought to yourself.

"Now, please tell me... why does the Lord Marshal have this interest in you," Irklak asked. "I know of the vision the Quasi-Dead showed you, but there's far more to his... obsession."

You looked up at Irklak. This Necromonger could be your way to freedom, but he also may not be.

"I'm not sure," you said. "I've been trying to figure it out myself."

Irklak sighed with frustration. He looked down at the ground and appeared lost in thought. You watched him and his movements.

Should I tell him of my last encounter with Vaako, you asked yourself. You didn't know if you should. Part of you really wanted to tell the Purifier, but at the same time... you didn't want to say a word. Even though he said he wasn't a threat, you felt like something was off.

The door suddenly opened, and The Lord Marshal in question stepped into the room. Vaako looked over at The Purifier.

"What are you doing in here," he asked in a low growl.

You felt a shiver go down your spine at the tone of The Lord Marshal's voice. The amount of power he held within himself made you want to bow to him, but you also fought against it. The Purifier looked over at you and watched your reactions.
Vaako grabbed The Purifier's shoulder and yanked him to look at his Lord Marshal.

"I said, 'What are you doing here,'" Vaako growled.

The Purifier put his hands up slowly, as if it could defend him, and slowly answered, "I just wanted to speak to the Half Breed. I wanted to know if she knew anything about Furyans."

Vaako looked over at you, and you looked over at him with wide eyes. Vaako let out a growl, then he looked over at The Purifier.

"She's not going to know... besides she isn't going to be a Half Breed for much longer. She'll soon be a Convert," Vaako growled. His words struck fear into your heart. He planned to convert you into a Necromonger.

The Purifier nodded, and Vaako let him go.

"Now, get out... prep everything for the Convert," he said slowly. Irklak nodded again and left the room without a word.
Once The Purifier left, Vaako looked over at you. Tears were rolling down your face, and your breathing was quick. You did not wish to convert. You just wanted to be free again.

"I do this to protect you...I hope you understand that," he said in a light voice.

He walked toward your bed and went to grab your hand, but you pulled it away from him. His obsession with you was too much, even for you. He was now planning to force you into his ways. With the collar still around your neck, you knew you couldn't get away from him.
Vaako looked down at you, and you saw hurt in his eyes. Taking a step back, he straightened up.

"You will be converted, and you will become a soldier. You'll be trained to fight for the Necromonger way, and when the time comes you'll be taken to the Threshold," he stated, then he walked toward the door. Stopping, Vaako looked at you one last time, then he stepped out of the room.

Sobs began to shake your body, as you were left alone in the quiet, small room.
