Truth

   You shook your head.

"I-I'm not sure," you answered; knowing it was a lie.

They wanted you protected because they knew you would protect The Lord Marshal one day. You couldn't see how you'd ever want to protect such a man, especially since you were a prisoner.

   Vaako took a breath.

"You're lying," he simply stated. "I can see it in your eyes."

He took a step forward and put a hand under your chin. His actions made you stiffen up, and he pulled your chin up so he could look into Y/E/C eyes.

"The thing about human eyes is that they show your emotions," he said softly.

He kept staring into your eyes, then he eventually shook his head and took his hand away. Turning away from you, he took a deep breath.

What was it with him, you thought. All he does is taunt and act as if he wants to hurt me, then he's gentle and calm. It makes no sense.

The Lord Marshal looked over his shoulder to look at you.

"Tell me why the Quasi-Dead want you to be protected," he said.

Taking a breath, you looked down at the black blanket on the bed.

"I...I had a vision," you said.

This grabbed his attention, as he turned around and looked at you with a blank expression.

"I saw you... and another man fighting. I saved you...then I saw the other man walking out, and you were walking toward me," you said shakily.

Saying it out loud was weird. It had felt real, but it hadn't even happened yet. Looking up, you looked at Vaako. He seemed confused, just as you were. Looking down, he tried to figure it out, but couldn't.

This Half Breed has no reason to protect me, he thought to himself.

Looking back at you, he looked at your face. There was something within him that wanted to protect you. He didn't understand it. You were a Half Breed Furyan, who wasn't special in any way. It was undeniable to him; there was something within him that lusted for you, but he couldn't figure it all out.

He kept staring at you, and you felt fear make its way through you. You couldn't read his expression, but you could see his true eye color:  hazel-green. They were beautiful in a way, but his eyes also reflected the colors around him, so they appeared to change to grey and silver as he moved about. You realized it was something that wasn't terrifying to see or feel about him. It made you relax a little, but you were still a little tense.

You felt like he was getting closer to you, yet he hadn't moved from where he stood. It was like you were becoming lost within his eyes. You didn't know how to explain it, but you were slowly beginning to feel less terrified of him. His armor was only a shield for his body, just like the blank face he used to cover his own emotions. He was right, human eyes don't lie. He didn't have the eyes of a lifeless  Necromonger soldier, he had the eyes of a man who was doing all he could for his faith.
Shaking his head again, The Lord Marshal cleared his throat then took a deep breath.

"What did this other man look like," he asked calmly.

It almost seemed like he may know the answer without you even saying anything. It seemed like he may be afraid of the description you were going to give him.
Closing your eyes, you thought back to the vision. You saw this other man again. He was quick and ruthless as he fought against Vaako. You felt an emotion from this vision, and it scared you.

"H-he has no hair... well built, as if he's spent his whole life fighting..." you said, then you paused as you thought more on the vision.

You saw the man look over at you. The goggles he wore on his face in the beginning were no longer on his face.

"His eyes... they... they reflect light almost like metal," you said.

Opening your eyes, you looked up at The Lord Marshall. He kept his face blank, but his eyes exposed the truth: Vaako was terrified.

"Riddick," he whispered. It seemed more to himself than to you, but you had to know who this other man was.

"Who's Riddick," you asked softly.

   Vaako straightened up and sighed.

"He's a Furyan," he stated. "And our last Lord Marshal."

A full blood Furyan, you thought. No wonder Vaako was afraid.

"I thought you guys believed in 'You keep what you kill'", you said.

Vaako looked at you with obvious annoyance written over his face.

"You've no right to question my position as Lord Marshal," he simply stated.

You shook at the tone of his voice. He was obviously upset over this. There was just so much that you didn't know, but you knew that whatever it all was, it was all dark. The Lord Marshal straightened up and walked toward the door. Opening the door, he stopped, and without looking at you, he spoke.

"I will send Darvik with food," he said, then he was gone, and the last sound you heard was the door locking.
