"What do you want now? When do you plan to stop? Don't you see that no matter how hard you try, or what evil scheme you come up with, it's not going to work." I heard Ethan assert, his voice strong and fearless. I swallowed nervously, my eyes constantly darting to the bedroom door which I had left open, so that security could come right in without hindrance.

Where are they? What's taking them so long?!

"I won't fail this time." Aaron said, his voice menacing and firm. Terror consumed me further, as I realised that I had left my husband to deal with that devil alone, and Aaron could potentially cause him harm.

Sucking in a deep breath, I strode to our balcony and stood behind Ethan, my legs slightly shaking. "I told you to go inside." He said to me with gritted teeth, without looking my way.

"I bet she misses seeing me, that's why she's here." Aaron grinned an ugly grin. I shot him a glare and before I knew it, Ethan had charged at him like an angry lion, throwing punches after punches without a pause.

My hand clasped around my mouth in shock and fear, trying to find my voice to stop him. "What's going on?" Two security guards finally arrived.

"Finally! Where were you?!" I reprimanded out of anxiety. "Ethan, Ethan! Stop. Stop please. Security is here. STOP." I grabbed my husband's shoulders and tried pulling him away from Aaron with all my strength.

I eventually succeeded in doing so, and when I did, I couldn't help but gasp in horror as my eyes fell upon Aaron's bleeding mess of a face, swollen all over. He was almost unconscious. He really should not have messed with my husband.

"Give me your gun." Ethan ordered one of the guards, his voice full of anger.

"Sir..."

"Give me your gun!" Ethan shouted and I flinched at the intensity of his fury, instinctively taking two steps back.

The guard hesitantly handed Ethan his gun and I could hear my heartbeat in my ears as I watched him point it at Aaron's wounded and weak body. "W-wait. Ethan, w-what are you doing?" I stuttered as I realised his intention.

"I've had enough of this guy. If he lives, we'll never find peace." Said Ethan.

"Babe, no, w—" He didn't give me a chance to finish, and pulled the trigger. I stood there, frozen on the spot, as the noise echoed.

The next second, Ethan's arms wrapped around my body, comforting me. "It's okay, everything's fine now." He cooed in my ear, kissing my temple.

"I-is he dead?" I stammered.

"He's dead." The guard called to us, confirming it, and for a moment my heart stood still. Aaron. My ex-boyfriend. The guy who had put me through so much emotional and physical torture, who had gone to extreme lengths to make sure I didn't find tranquility in my married life, was dead. He was gone. He no longer existed. He would no longer be a threat to us. No more kidnappings, no more fear...

"Anastasia?" Ethan's voice brought me back to reality. I watched as the guards carried away Aaron's limp and lifeless body, and couldn't help but feel like a huge weight had been lifted off my chest. I didn't feel even a single ounce of pity for him. He deserved worse.

"It's over." I muttered.

Ethan kissed my head, his hand on the back of my head as I rested my face on his chest, finding comfort in the warmth of his toned body. "Let me carry you to bed." He said to me softly. I didn't reply and let him carry me bridal style to our bed. He locked the balcony door as I replayed and registered the recent event in my head.

"Cuddle me, please." I said to him, extending my arms forward. He joined me in bed, wrapping his arms around my small body and pulling the covers on top of us.

He stroked my hair gently, and I held onto his shoulders, my own tensed, but the tension soon eased as he managed to calm me down.

I suppose about half an hour might have passed, when I looked up into his big, dark brown eyes. "I believe you were kissing me like there was no tomorrow before we got an uninvited visitor." I reminded.

He grinned before his lips found mine again.
