"I- I... I came for Ethan. He's in danger," I stuttered, my breath shaking and my palms sweaty. I could practically hear my pounding heart in my ears. "Why are you here?" I questioned him.
"Same reason as you, Ana! This place is dangerous; you should not have come here!" Zayn whisper-exclaimed. I didn't fail to hear the agitation in his voice.
"I'm aware of that! I'm here for my husband and I won't leave without him."
He sighed in frustration. "Okay fine. We'll look for him together, but you need to stay behind me."
"Hurry up, lead the way." I spoke impatiently.
He turned around and began walking slowly, with me cautiously following behind. With a protective hand on my baby bump, I kept my senses aroused, looking right and left with every step that I took.
"Do you know your way around?" I asked.
"Of course not. How can I?" He answered.
We walked down a long, eerie corridor as quietly and carefully as we could, and were thankfully not encountered by any scumbag with the intention of blocking our path and the purpose we were there for.
God, please let Ethan be alright.
The next minute, out of nowhere, a big guy with a protruding belly appeared before us, glaring daggers at us. I instinctively took a step back. "Z-Zayn." I whispered, frightened.
Zayn was giving the guy an equally venomous look as he lifted up his hand and pointed his gun at him. "Get out of our way and no one gets hurt." He spoke in a menacing tone.
Oh please do actually get out of our way; I don't have much time. I need to get to my husband.
The man quietly reached into the holster tied around his waist and pulled out a gun of his own. Damn it. "I've got one of these as well." He said.
Damn damn damn.
"I warned you." Said Zayn and before any of us knew it, a loud gunshot was heard that had me grimacing and covering my ears.
"Hurry! Follow me!" Zayn bellowed. I vigorously nodded my head and began following him once again, fast-paced this time as he strode quicker than before through the corridor until we reached a flight of stairs. A seemingly very long flight of stairs.
"What are we even doing? Do we have a plan? Do we know where we're going? Do we know where Ethan could possibly be held captive? No." I said, breathing heavily, feeling anxious and slightly lightheaded.
"The place is huge, Ana. Of course we don't know the answers to these questions, but we have look everywhere we possibly can. Down the stairs, there's a dungeon-like area. Maybe that's where he is?"
"Okay!" I immediately responded, determined to run several miles for my husband if I had to even if I was pregnant.
He began stepping down the stairs and I followed behind. Only had we stepped down a few stairs when I halted in my tracks. I had a tugging feeling at my heart, something strange, something I couldn't exactly put a finger on. Was it my intuition telling me something was wrong? Was I actually sensing something or simply losing my sanity?
"Ana?"
My eyes snapped to Zayn's. When I didn't say anything, he raised his eyebrows at me in question. "I..." I couldn't find words to rationalise what I was feeling. I felt my head automatically snap behind me as if I had no control over it, as if there was someone behind me. Someone familiar.
