Jay's POV

I just dopped the kids off at school when my phone rang.

J- 'Hello?'

D- 'Hello Johanna, it's doctor Dr Richard Lyons.'

J- 'Oh, hello.'

D- 'I called because I've gotten the results in. I think it is best for you to come to the office, and it'would be good if your husband, Dan, could be here too.'

J- 'I can call him, but I think he is already at school.'

D- 'Call me if you can come. Preferably as soon as possible.'

J- 'Okay, I will call him and I will let you know.'

D- 'Okay. Bye.'

J- 'Bye.

I hung up. Why couldn't he just say it on the phone? And why did Dan had to come with me. I decided I just wanted to know so I called Dan to see if we could go immediately.

D- 'Hey love, are you almost at school?'

J- 'No, not really. I just got a call from Dr. Lyons. You know, about the blood test. But he said, I had to come to the office for them, and I had to take you with me.'

D- 'We can go after classes ends.'

J- 'I thought that too, but he said as soon as possible. I really don't know what's going on and I'm starting to freak out a little.'

D- 'Okay, I will go to the front office now. I will tell them, there is a family emergency.'

J- 'Thank you. Can you tell them that I'm not coming in this morning?'

D- 'Of course. Do we meet at the doctor's office? I can be there in 30 minutes.'

J- 'Yeah, thank you. I love you Dan.'

D- 'I love you too. See you soon.

I call doctor Lyons back and told him, Dan and I were gonna be there in 30 minutes.

'Hello again. Come in Johanna and Daniel.' Dr. Lyons told us. 'Let's not get around the bush. The results were not what we were expecting. You don't have a vitamin deficiency but there were way more white blood cells in the blood than normal. We suspect a form of leukemia. To be sure you need some more tests but those will be in the hospital and are quite urgent.'

'So, what now?' I ask.

'I've already called with a few hospitals. The Royal Hallamshire Hospital would be able to do all the necessary tests today. It is also one of the closest to where you live.'

'Do you know how long it will take for the tests? We still have to pick up our children from school.' Dan asks.

'I would recommend to call someone to pick them up and to watch over them. One of the tests is spinal tap, which has to be under general anesthesia. The timing will depend on how you react to the anesthesia. I know it is a lot and it is quite scary, but they can give you the best care you need.'

'Okay. Thank you. Do we have to call them to make an appointment?' Dan asks.

'I can call and tell them you would be arriving in between 30 minutes and an hour. They told me they could meet you at any time.'

'Thank you. We will be leaving than.' I speak. We shake Dr. Lyons hand and we head to the car. Once we are in, I break down in Dan's arms.
