Falling for a Surfer

First Summer

Sarah just turned seventeen in May. June finally came, me and my friends Lilly and Kiley were getting ready to go to the beach. We were gonna stay until August like normal. We arrived at the beach and first thing we do was put the blanket down on the sand and put our umbrella up.
Then we laid on the blanket. Kiley grabbed her sunglasses.
She said," Coolness time girls."
Me and Lilly grab our sunglasses.
We said," Definitely."
We put our sunglasses on. We laid there for a few minutes. Then Kiley got up and went looking through her beach bag quickly.
I said," What's wrong Kiley?"
She said," Oh you know me after a few minutes of just laying here. I feel burned up from the sun."
Lilly said," Your overreacting Kiley."
She said," No I'm not. Remember what happened last summer no guy would talk to me for months because of my face remember."
Last summer Kiley's face was completely red. It took forever for her face to heal.
Kiley ran over to me with her sunscreen.
She said," Hurry hurry and put sunscreen on me before the sun ruins my summer with hot guys again."
I said," Ok ok calm down."
I grabbed the sunscreen then sprayed it on her back, then rubbed it.
I said," There."
She said," Thanks."
She grabbed the sunscreen from me then started putting so much of it all over her face and body. I just went back to tanning. Kiley then started joining us again. Twenty minutes later we stoped tanning. We started eating sandwiches we kept cold in our ice chest.
Lilly said," I see a few hotties over there already."
Lilly was looking at the guys playing volleyball.
I said," Well maybe if you get lucky the ball will come over here with your man."
She said," Maybe."
Just within two minutes that's exactly what happened. The ball came over to us, Lilly caught it.
She said," Is he coming?"
I said," See for yourself."
She turned around and there he was.
She said," Hi."
He said," Hi."
She said," Oh uh here's your ball back."
He grabbed it from her.
He said," Thanks."
She said," Your welcome um. Mr. Hotness you mind if I join you?"
He said," You sure you got what it takes to beat me?"
She said," Why do you say that?"
He said," Because it's guys against girls."
She said," I'll pay you fifty dollars if you let me play."
He said," Ok your on."
She grabbed her money and was about to put it in his hand, then pulled it away from him.
She said," But if I win I get a kiss from you."
He was in shock.
He said," Ok but if I win you get a date with me."
She said," What?"
He said," I like women that are feisty and make great deals."
She ran to the volleyball net.
He said," Is she always like this?"
I said," Yeah. Have fun with her."
He said," I will."
Then he ran to the volleyball net.
Kiley and I watched them play for a few minutes. Then I grabbed my book and started reading it for a while. Kiley took a nap. Kiley woke up when I was on my tenth chapter. She was looking around at all the people.
She saw these surfers running in the water.
She walked closer to the ocean to get a better look at them. Then she came back.
I said," What were you doing?"
She said," Looking at something."
I said," Ooo what?"
She taped my shoulder.
She said," Our men."
I looked up from my book.
I said," Our men?"
She said," Yeah I think I found you and I one."
She pointed to them.
She said," See yours he's got dark hair and he's wearing blue. Mine has dirty blonde hair and he's wearing red."
I said," I can barley see him."
I closed my book.
I said," Want to go in the water finally?"
She said," Is this just so you can get a better look at him?"
I said," Half reason."
She said," Ok."
We ran to the ocean. The water was nice and cool.
She said," Look now."
I put my sunglasses on my head. I looked at the surfers. I looked at the one in blue.
I said," Eh he is very tall but... he looks like someone every girl would want."
She said," So?"
I said," He's a maybe, I'm not too sure about him."
Lilly came running to us.
She said," Guys guess what?"
We said," What?"
She said," Guess who got a kiss and has a date tonight."
We said," You."
She said," Yes woo. I won so I kissed him. Then he asked if I would still like to go on date with him even though he didn't win. I said I want to."
We said," Good for you."
She said," Yeah come on let's swim."
We said," Ok."
We started swimming in the ocean for a while. After that, Lilly went on her date. Kiley and I went back to the place we're staying at.
We went to the bowling alley and play center some days. Lilly was with that boy a lot. They looked like they were totally in love even after a few days.
When August came, we all left to go home. We were all excited for next summer of course which would feel like a long time from now.
