Jon and Sarah woke up early to go to the beach. She had one of wetsuits on that he bought for her. He had a wetsuit on too. She ran into the ocean to relax for a little bit. He was waxing the surfboards on the sand.
After a few minutes he ran into the water with the surfboards.
He said," Here you go all ready to go."
She looked at him. She saw the surfboard he was giving her.
She said," Oh cool."
She grabbed it. She got on her board.
She said," This is so cool"
He got on his board.
He said," I can tell your excited."
She said," Yes."
He smiled.
He said," So since this is your first time I would recommend putting the strap on your ankle."
She said," Ok."
She put the strap on her ankle.
She said," Ok now what?"
He said," Follow me."
He swam a little deeper to were the waves were. She followed him.
He said," These are the small waves right here."
She said," Are they easier to catch?"
He said," Well that's like the hardest thing about surfing is catching a wave but as long as you don't give up you can do it."
He said," Watch me go on one so you can see how to stand on the board."
He swam up to the waves. Then stood up onto his board and rode the wave. His board was facing toward the shore. He bent down while still riding the wave. The wave starting to die down.
He jumped off of his board and was underwater. He floated back up. He grabbed his board. He got on it and swam back over to Sarah.
He said," Oh man that felt good."
She said," Getting all wet?"
He said," Yeah."
She said," You did great."
He said," Thanks. You ready?"
She said," A little nervous."
He said," Don't worry I'll be right beside you."
She said," Ok here goes nothing."
She took a deep breath.
They swam past the small waves. It felt like you were body boarding being on them.
He grabbed her hand.
He said," You ready to swim back?"
She said," Yeah."
He said," Let's go."
They swam back to the small waves. He stayed a little close to her incase if she needed help.
He said," Ok whenever your ready."
She swam forward and tried to catch one of the waves. She stood up on the board, she fell off the board.
He said," It's ok try again!"
She looked back at Jon who was a few feet away from her.
She said," He's right. I got this. Try again."
She got on her board. She swam back a little bit past the waves then forward again. She looked at one of the waves and tried to catch it. She stood up on the board and fell off again. He swam over to her.
He said," You ok?"
She said," Yeah."
She grabbed her board.
She said," I'm going again."
He said," I'll be here if you need me."
She smiled.
He said," Your doing good. It is hard to try to balance yourself right away."
She wiped her forehead.
She said," Yeah it's hard."
She swam away.
He said," She'll get it soon."
Sarah kept trying and trying to get a wave, but she fell off every time. Jon knew she was getting better every time.
When it became late afternoon they left to go back to the hotel. They got cleaned up and changed to go for an early dinner. They went to a seafood restaurant that was right on the beach. They sat down at a table and looked at the menu. They ordered their drinks and food.
He held her hand.
She said," How do you think I did today?"
He said," With surfing?"
She nodded.
He said," I can tell your getting better every time you try."
She smiled.
She said," You better not be saying that just because you like me."
He said," Half reason."
She playfully kicked his leg.
He said," Owe."
She laughed. He held her hand.
After awhile their food arrived and they ate it. After dinner they took a walk on the beach. They stayed there till the sun set.
