Chapter Nine | Bananas for My Eyes & Lizards for My Back
Jason awoke in a damp and dark room. Footsteps sounded far away. One window stood high on one ceiling. He blinked several times to further clear his sight.
A deep voice resounded against the very acoustic walls. "Do you think he wakes?"
A smaller, more feminine voice spoke next. "His mind is unusually strong and seems to be very active. Yes, I believe that he is awake."
"Thank you, Moria." The man's voice replied.
What were they talking about, Jason curiously wondered. Just at that moment the cells door was opened revealing a tall man and a woman who was a little bit shorter than the man.
Moria, the woman, was dressed in a black leather suit that shaped her figure quite nicely. She had a rapier attached to her belt and a strange weapon on her thigh. Her hair was blond and was tied in a bun that held a single braid that fell down her back.
The man was older looking than Moria, Jason assumed he was in his late twenties to his early thirties. The man was dressed in a pair of black loose trousers and a white peasant style shirt. The man also held a rapier on his left hip.
"You were right, Moria, he was awake." The man chuckled.
"The Resistance has always had a few Strassee on their side. I am one of them, Percival." Moria explained.
So that's what she is, a Strassee! Jason thought.
There is more than to believe than that, Jason, a voice said in his head. It strangely sounded much like Moria's voice.
Who are you? He asked.
I am Aquaria, dragon of Moria. Aquaria explained.
Jason squirmed. Percival and Moria were beginning to unlock his chains.
"What are you doing?" He asked impatiently.
"What does it look like we're doing, we're setting you free." Percival spat.
Moria punched Jason in his face. Jason mind started to fade away and he was out.
Percival chuckled. Jason was out cold. First, he wouldn't know where he was going to be taken to and second, he was to heavy to carry by hand. Which is always bad, I should think.
They did put poor Jason on Aquaria, the dragon and with the guidance of Moria, flew Jason to their camp. Moria and Percival followed behind on horses.
Meanwhile Jason regained composure and quickly sat up.
But as everyone should know, that was a very bad move. Jason almost flew off of the dragon which he sat upon. Aquaria turned her scaly head and readjusted him.
There you go, Aquaria said to him.
Will it every stop? He asked.
No, once it started it can never stop. Aquaria whispered. We are going to descend now, hold onto my saddle.
So that's what he was sitting on. It did oddly feel comfortable.
THUMP!
Aquaria landed in a clump of banana plants. The air smelled sweet with some squashed bananas. It was also quite hot. Thankfully, Jason was wearing a loose shirt and some thin pants.
"Is there any water nearby?" He asked.
Yes, follow me. The dragon said. She led him towards a jungle of dark trees. The air started to get colder, this time drastically.
Jason shivered with each step. His feet began to numb and Aquaria lamented and had to carry him.
A strange fiery glow reflected off the lower branches of the trees.
"Is that the camp?" Jason asked.
Yes, Aquaria answered. She began to descend into the thicket. Men rushed around gathering leftover sticks and leaves. Jason tumbled off of the dragon quite gracefully. But he was saddle sore.
Riding a dragon is much different than riding a horse.
Jason weakly made an attempt of walking to the camp which was only a few feet away from him.
He saw a dark form that was advancing quite steadily.
