Chapter Twelve | Festival of the Seven Weeks
Annabeth grimaced. The sound of the beating drums pounded in her ears. Four weeks had passed since she had sent the letter to Jason and her father. Four weeks without a reply.
The Summer harvest was coming to the middle point. Annabeth made a mental note about that; only three more to go.

"Annabeth!" Acid Rain screamed.
"What now?" She groaned. Rain had been pestering her for the past two days now.
"Come join the Rain Dance," she replied gleefully.
Annabeth got up and crawled over to the opening. "Have you had too much to drink? If you had..." She rambled on.
"Really, Anna! I do not drink. You all of people should be aware of that." Rain said sternly.
"Yeah, what ever." Annabeth slipped back in to sleep more. Rain huffed away.
Moments later Rain came back with Kirk, an elf the same age as her.
The two started to pound their drums, shaking the tent with the beat.
"RAIN! You better be quiet, or I have your head ripped of in the next ten minutes." Annabeth shouted. Her face was red with anger and sweat started to bead on her neck.
"WHAT!" She shrieked.
"I SAID, YOU ARE GOIN-" Annabeth began.
Darien walked past. "Is everything alright over here?"
"Oh, yes, sorry about the racket Darien." Kirk replied, his voice suave.
"Ugh!" Annabeth groaned. "Stop lying to her." She got up and burst through the entrance. "Darien, these two people were annoying me while I was trying to take a long, peaceful nap. But as you can see that didn't happen, and I am really grumpy."
Darien chuckled. "You really are funny, and you take after your father." With the last word, Darien hugged the life out of Annabeth.
"I can't breathe." She gasped.
"Sorry, darling." Darien patted her head.
"I'm alive at least." Annabeth chuckled.
"Amen to that." Rain laughed. Kirk groaned.
"Deer Friend wants to see Annabeth. You three as well." A young boy said. He pointed to the four.
"What? Why?" Annabeth stammered.
"How should I know, I'm only the messenger." The boy said as he ran off.
"Well, I guess we have to see him. It's no use putting him off. He'll just get angrier at the world. But how do elves do that. You all into nature. Not that there is anything bad with it."
"Stop rambling! I hate it when you do that. Sometimes I think you fancy some guy out in the world. Ugh!" Rain groaned.
"That might be true," Annabeth murmured under her breath.
"What did you say? Nevermind. Forget I ever asked you that? Okay. Good! To the Lord of the Elves. Forward march!" Rain stormed off. Annabeth quickly followed.
The giant green tent came into sight. First Rain disappeared into the shadowy colours and Annabeth slipped in.
Rain bowed before Deer Friend. Annabeth did the same.
"You're probably wondering why I called you here today." He asked.
"Actually, no I knew you were going to ask her at some point." Darien said.
"Ask me what?" Annabeth asked as she turned to face Deer.
"We were going to ask you officially when the Summer Harvest ended but desperate times, call for desperate measures." Deer said mournfully.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked, anger seeping into her words.
"I wish I never had to say this..." Deer sighed. He wrung his fingers together. "Annabeth, we need you to assassinate the King and Queen of the Empire."
"Wh-what!" She gaped.
"Darien told me that you did kill the mayor of North's Bounty and then you had killed a dying man in Leagiba. So I think that your the best choice." He stared into her eyes.
"I'm sorry to have put you up to this, it's wrong. But I received a letter from the leader of the Rebels, saying that he needed a brave assassin to kill the royal couple."
Annabeth stared at him. "You've got to be joking, right? I can't just walk into their bedroom, pull out a knife and stab them to death."
"Actually you could, but that's beside the point." Deer chuckled. "You don't have to do it immediately. He said it would be best in a year's time."
"Ah, thank the gods." She sighed, her lips pulled into a small smile.
"But in the meantime you will be trained. Somehow we will make Azula grow." Deer stated.
"How do you make a child grow?" Annabeth questioned.
"Magic," Deer said simply.
"But I don't want her to. I want her to grow naturally. Please don't," Annabeth fell to the ground, sobbing.
"Okay, we won't touch her magic wise. Alright." Deer said softly.
"Okay," she nodded. Annabeth pulled her self up and walked outside.
