So I ended up failing the bio test.
Honestly, I didn't care too much—the only time I became uncomfortable was when Ymir, Historia and Connie were all sharing answers and talking about what they got wrong the next morning in class. Even Connie had passed—apparently he actually studied for this one.
"I KNEW IT WAS THAT ONE!" Ymir shouted, throwing her paper in exasperation.
"Don't worry, Ymir! I got that one wrong too... I swear it wasn't even on the review." Historia frowned as she scanned her paper intensely.
The four of us stood in a cluster at the back of the class, waiting for the bell. With only a few minutes left, everyone was freaking out over their marks.
Connie was off his game for once, looking at his own grade, a confused look in his eye. "Uh, I think mine was calculated wrong."
"What'd you get?" I asked him, peaking over to see.
"A 75...? There's legit no way this is mine," he said as he laughed. "Is this Armin's or something?" He flipped the paper, looking at the back as if it would magically reveal some hidden cheat.
"He isn't even in this class, idiot," Ymir stated, rolling her eyes and going back to her own paper.
"Oh, right... Well," Connie said, shrugging, "I'm definitely not gonna complain about this one." He shoved his test in his bag, pulling out his phone.
I kept my paper against me, feeling ashamed. I knew I wasn't the only one who failed, but considering how smart my friends were...
I figured they could tell how I felt about my own mark, considering they didn't ask what I got.
The bell rang, and I made my way to English with Connie.
He hardly looked up from his game as I asked, "Have you even gotten any further since Friday?"
"Pfft, I passed that level in an hour once I got home—easy."
I laughed, holding up my hands. "Alright, alright! Sorry, ball-sack." He didn't even notice the nickname, his attention back on his game.
We found our way to our seats near the front—seeing Reiner and Marco in their usual spots. At least today there were no surprise interruptions from my bestie Eren.
I looked over my shoulder to the other side of the room seeing Eren sitting beside Mikasa, with Armin and some other random student sitting behind them. Armin had his nose in a book, staring down at his lap. Mikasa was gathering her books, prepping for note-taking.
Eren had his dark blue hoodie today—he sat there playing with the same string as last time, swinging it around as he leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs in front of him. He seemed exceptionally moody today.
Books already out and ready, his eyes danced across the room until they met mine—and I realized I'd just been staring. I could see his features grow into annoyance as I glared right back at him before turning back to the front.
As soon as the bell rang, Mr. Ackerman put down his tea, standing up from his desk and setting up his slideshow. "Alright, brats. Let's get started."
The lesson wasn't as boring this time—or maybe I was just trying to force myself to pay more attention so I could distract myself from the overwhelming fear of having to talk to him after class.
Once the bell rudely interrupted his oh-so-important lecture again, Mr. Ackerman dismissed us, taking a seat back at his desk.
"Hey, Connie. I'll see you in a sec for lunch, I just have to talk to him about something real quick," I said, packing up my things.
