One year ago:
"That was the best meal I've ever had."
"You say that every time, Sasha," I laughed.
"I KNOW—BUT THE LAVA CAKE THEY MAKE HERE IS LIKE NOTHING I'VE EVER TASTED."
"I wish I could say the same," I said, giving her an accusing look.
"Pfft. You should've been faster if you wanted more. Don't worry, I'll make it up to you next time," she replied as I rolled my eyes, smiling at her.
Sasha let go of our linked arms to check her phone."Shit, we're going to be late! It's already a ten minute walk to the theatre as it is." She started speed walking while dragging me along at her side.
"I can't believe how long we've been waiting for this," I said, looking up at the unusually cloudless sky, sprinkled with stars. "I heard this symphony has a pianist with their very own solo this time, too."
"No way, really?" She grinned. "Hopefully it's better than those shitty songs you play that you call music—" I cut her off by shoving her playfully, as a laugh escaped my lips.
She laughed with me and continued to drag me along as we walked down the crowded street.
I pulled out our tickets for the theatre. Live music was always our thing—Sasha loved it just as much as I did. Though she still loved food probably more than anything else, it was still nice to have this bond with her.
It's what had brought us so close together, closer than her and Niccolo, closer than her and Connie...
The city was bustling with people, who were all rushing to get to the theatre on time.
I'd been beyond excited, insisting that Sasha came with me. At first, she'd been conflicted because she was supposed to hang out with Niccolo tonight, but eventually she'd decided to come with me after I'd practically begged her.
We made our way to the packed theatre, meandering our way through the crowd until we reached our location. The lights were still on and the stage was empty—but the seats were filling up fast.
"I think I found them!" I heard Sasha whisper.
We settled into our seats—as close to the stage as I could afford. But oh—how I envied those who got to experience the sounds at the front row.
"You think they have a food stand in here? I'm starved from all that walking."
I gawked at my best friend. "We just ate fifteen minutes ago!"
"Exactly!"
I laughed. "We'll get food after, how about that."
She made a pouty face. "Fine—but you're paying since you've made me wait so long."
"Deal."
We talked for the next ten or so minutes before the lights dimmed, and people began clapping.
I hid my excitement as I clapped along, leaning over in my seat to get a good view of the musicians coming onto the stage and taking their places.
I eyed the pianist—a young lady with midnight hair, similar to Sasha's, and a beautifully long white dress. Her warm skin was lit up by the glowing lights, and she was absolutely stunning. I watched as she walked up to the only piano they had, right in the middle of the stage.
