The test was...awful. Most people finished in about an hour, but about a quarter of the class—myself included—took right up the bell. I left at least ten questions unanswered, running out of time. I wasn't even sure if I'd passed this one.The entire time, I would just keep getting distracted—thinking about my dream, about Sasha, and...about how disappointed she would be. The thought seemed to weigh me down even further.
Once the bell rang, I finished off whatever bullshit I was writing on the page, and handed my paper to Hange.
Before I could walk out, they called out to me.
"(Y/N)?" I turned to face Hange. "I'm glad you came today." They smiled at me.Even though I felt utterly defeated and mentally drained, I at least tried to bring a small smile to my lips and nodded, walking out of the classroom.
I'm so tired.
I made my way to my next class: English. The halls were as packed as ever, but I meandered my way through the crowd and approached the door—but paused before walking in, overhearing a conversation between some students in the classroom.
"We stayed up all night trying to finish the report. I legit got about an hour of sleep. The research took forever—"
"—Mr. Ackerman probably would've made us clean out the entire classroom if we didn't get it done by today—"
"Nah bro, definitely the entire school."
You've got to be kidding. That report was due today as well? I held back my groan. The universe had to be playing some sick joke on me today.
Unlike professor Hange, Levi Ackerman was... not always so lenient with late assignments—especially with reports like this. Being honest with myself, I hadn't even come close to starting.
I remembered reading through the requirements and saw it was a two-part report—meaning it had to be done in pairs. On that note, I'd just closed my laptop. I'd hardly given much more thought to it after that. I'd pretty much forgotten about it until now.
A group of loud voices approaching brought me out of my thoughts once more, and I realized I'd just been standing at the door again.
Taking a deep breath, I turned around quickly. I couldn't do it. I had enough disappointment for one day. Imma just head out before anyone notices, easy—
I slammed into something—someone.
They swore. "Watch it, will you?" A low male voice growled.
I stayed silent and walked around them with my head down, heading into the hall and not even bothering to reply. My annoyance flared, but I decided to keep walking. As if it were my fault we ran into each other?
"Hey, (Y/N)! You realize I'm talking to you, right? Are you not even gonna apologize?"
A few laughs followed, and I stopped my walking, realizing I knew exactly whose voice that was.
I took a deep breath and turned to face him. "I'm so sorry, Eren. Did I hurt you?" I asked, perking my voice with fake sweetness.
Eren Jaeger, for reasons I still did not understand, just decided I was now to be his new form of entertainment—which oddly enough, only sprouted a little over a year ago—around when I had started dating Jean Kirstein. Jean and Eren had a long and bloody history, so as soon as Jean and I became 'official,' Eren deemed it necessary to come after me to torment Jean.
He was an annoying prick—and extremely moody. A few years ago, he'd begun being a beggar for attention—messing around with teachers to get the class laughing. It was honestly embarrassing how much he'd relied on it to get people to like him and acting as if he owned the school. He always had his group of friends following him around.
