I wasn't sure why or how, but having Eren stay was something that made me feel a lot better about being stuck at home. His teasing and snide remarks... somehow made me feel better—oddly enough.

Enough so that I'd actually invited him over for the next few days as well.

He was still attending school, but he would come over in the afternoon, bringing food, homework for the both of us, or even a deck of cards for us to play.

And I found myself almost...looking forward to his company. Because I didn't really have anyone else. But I was still surprised Eren even bothered to care about me or spending time with me aside from the project.

And I don't think he realized how much he was helping me simply by being with me.

Not that I would ever tell him that, though.

My mom also seemed to be fine with it, as she knew I was still recovering. She'd even gone out of her way to tell me that she thought Eren was 'good for me'—to my exasperation. I didn't want to know what she meant by that.

"Mr. Ackerman asked about you today," Eren said from beside me on the couch. My sofa was definitely as soft and comfortable as Eren's, but we made do. It wasn't worth going over to his house merely for the couch. Plus, I was still on the healing mend, I couldn't exactly get there easily.

I raised my brows at his remark, placing down my pencil and giving him a sidelong look. "Oh? And what did he say?"

"He only asked how you were doing," Eren replied, looking over at me with a flat expression while placing his own pencil down. We'd been doing homework in comfortable silence for about an hour now.

I laughed a bit. "Ackerman asked about me? Damn, I didn't know he cared about anything."

Eren merely shrugged, staying quiet.

"To think he has emotions—what a miracle," I said teasingly as I laughed again. "You can tell him that I'm alright, and that I'll be coming back soon."

Eren only focused on his homework, not bothering to look up at me as he spoke. "He didn't ask me—he asked Connie."

I frowned. "Oh, but—"

"I only overheard it," he put simply.

Huh. "You have something against Ackerman or something?" I asked jokingly.

Eren rolled his eyes beside me, finally looking up. "Can't we just work?"

I frowned as he continued writing. "What's with the attitude, Jaeger?"

"I'm just tired," he admitted, and my frown only deepened.

"Sorry," I mumbled, going back to my work. After a few minutes of silence, I stood up. "I'm going to get a drink, do you want anything?" I asked, turning to him.

He looked up at me with an odd look. "Sit, I'll get it—You're supposed to be resting, you know."

I shook my head. "That was almost a week ago. I can at least walk."

He stood up, placing his homework beside him on the couch. "Yes, but you don't have to," he said, his smile coming back slightly, and I ignored the relief I felt when I saw it. At least he wasn't mad at me.

He walked up to me, and I stayed where I was, altering my gaze to look up at him as he approached me, putting both hands on my shoulders and leaning in close. His smirk still danced along his lips and I froze at the closeness. "Sit," he said, his breath hot on my face. "I'll grab the drinks, (Y/N)."
