The summer days seemed to be going fast in Grimmauld Place. Breakfast, cleaning, laughing with the friends new and old. I'd become more settled into the routine, actively avoiding my father's room. In the evenings I'd found myself snuggling with Charlie.
The days went by like this until Dumbeldore made his appearance, with Harry Potter clinging to his arm. Harry smiled at Hermione and Ron, rushing over to them. I smile widely, happy to see them reunited.
"Ms. Black, a word please." Dumbeldore says to me. I see Charlie's worried glance but shake my head and follow Dumbeldore into the nearby room.
"Ms. Black, I've been trying to figure out a way to destroy the locket. I've wondered if you'd found out any more information?" He eyes me suspiciously. I feel something begining to push around in my mind and I push him out.
"Really, sir? Don't you trust me?" I ask him, sizing up the old wizard.
"I feel that you may be witholding information, sadly." Dumbeldore tells me.
"I'm waiting until my return to Hogwarts to try to continue helping search. I bet if Hermione was here, she'd have ideas on how to destroy it."I say folding my arms over my chest.
The old man laughs and Ifeel anger swell inside of me. "You told her already. This much I can figure out."
"If you know, then why do this. haven't figured anything else out and don't wish too. I'd like to enjoy my remaining time with Charlie." I say truthfully. The summer days were winding down and I wanted to spend what time I could with the Weasley.
"I want you to consider carefully on your next moves, Siaph. It could mean the difference between life and death. You must know Harry will be called in front of the ministry. He used a Patronus charm in front of a muggle. I believe they want to make an example." Dumbeldore informs me.
"What do you want me to do?" I ask him confused. What did Harry's case have to do with me? It saddened me, of course.
"Figure out what these other objects may be and how to destroy them. I've actively been looking, but to no avail." he tells me slightly annoyed.
I nod and leave him to his thoughts before being pulled to the side by Hermione. I tell her what Dumbeldore had said and she knew aboutHarry from the time I was in with Dumbeldore.
"I don't get it Hermione, what's wrong about Harry knowing what's going on?" I ask her. She looks at me sadly and shakes her head.
"I've an idea, but Ithink we should get Snape and maybe Sirius. He seemed rather torn up last time." she tells me.
I feel shocked but nod. I allow her to pull me into the dining room where everyone was happily gathered sitting at the table with Dumbeldore at the head.
"Now, we've learned these objects are filled with dark magic. What remains to be known is how to destroy them. I've given the task of looking into it with Hermione and Siaph." Dumbeldore tells the gathered crowd and I feel myself staring down the man as the crowd turns to the two of us.
"Albus, they're merely children. I don't want them involved further." Molly tries to say, her voice breaking.
"If they want to involve themselves, who are we to intervene?" Sirius says angerly. I recalled the previous arguement and shake my head.
"Sirius, Professor Snape, could the two of you join us for a moment?" Hermione asks after the meeting is called to an end before more chaos could ensue.
Both men eye each other wearily as they follow us into my father's room. Snape casts the silencing charm as he turns to us.
"What now?" he asks with a sense of urgency.
I turn to look at Hermione as she takes a deep sigh. With the courage she could muster, I see tears threatining to form.
"What if these objects are similar to Riddle's diary?" she asks us.
Sirius and I share confused expressions, as Snape looks taken aback.
"Ms. Granger, please tell me what you're implying." Snape asks. It was the first time I'd seen so much respect held for her.
"I think, we need the fang of the basilisk. What I don't understand is Riddle was there with Harry in the chamber. He'd told me that much." she recalls.
"Riddle appeared to Harry, then. Are you implying he may appear with this locket?" Snape asks her.
I look at Sirius who shrugs at me as we listen to the two brilliant minds brainstorm.
"Right, but what's more, Harry's dreams." she says.
I was lost in the conversation but listened on curious. I hadn't known about what dreams she referred to but came to the conclusion they'd been connected.
"What are you talking about?" Sirius finally asks. He'd apparently been as out of the loop as I'd been.
"Harry's been having dreams. He sees them from his perspective. It's been a few, but I'm convinced there is some connection." Hermione tells us.
"The night I'd found them and chased after Wormtail.. Pettigrew, I never understood how Harry had survived." Sirius recounts his memories sadly.
Snape looked as if he was holding onto a secret that he didn't want to share. He looked at me and for a fleeting moment, sadness consumes his expression.
"What if Harry needs to..." Hermione asks sadly, unable to finish her thought.
"NO! There must be another way!" Sirius shouts. Thank Snape for that silencing charm.
"Sirius, calm down. They'd brought you here, hoping for help. Get ahold of yourself!" Snape commands.
Glaring at his mortal enemy, Sirius now eyes me wearily next.
"I believe you may be right, but Dumbeldore wouldn't sacrifice him, would he?"I now ask Snape directly. Out of the members in the room, Snape would be the one closest to the old wizard.
Snape sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose.
"It's a game to him, isn't it?" Hermione whispers to Snape.
"What do you mean, Granger?" Snape asks instantly.
"It's about controling the situation. It feels an awful lot like a chess game. Harry being the queen, we're the knights and pawns." Hermione says.
Sirius wraps his arm around the girl and leads her out of the room now crying.
"Listen Siaph, I have much more to tell you but you need to understand, it's all for the greater good. I'd gladly die for the purpose this serves. I owe that much to her." he tells me.
"Who sir?" I ask slightly confused.
"Lily Evans."
