The events that happened were so quick, none of us ready for it. After the Hogesmade weekend it was calm. As if in the eye of the storm, it quickly found its way back to us.
I'd awoken that night to see Ginny's back leaving our room. I looked around to see Hermione with the same look of confusion that my face waas wearing. Quickly we reach for our jumpers and head down to the common room in search of answers. Rather than answers we were met by a very distraught Minerva.
"You two girls go back to bed. I will explain in the morning." She says pacing the room.
"Minnie. If something is going on we need to know." I say with much more confidence than I currently held. I've heard Sirius refer to her as Minnie amongst our many conversations and it slipped out.
"Siaph!" Hermione scolds but turns back to McGonagall for answers.
"It's quite alright, Ms. Granger. The two of you return to bed. The Weasley's returned home a bit earlier. Professor Lupin will be joining them this evening and returning. Dumbeldore can answer your questions in the morning." she explains pushing us back to our dorm.
I plop on the bed with my arms crossed and tapping my foot. Something happened and of course we were kept in the dark. At this point they were my family too, so I was feeling beyond frustrated.
"Siaph, try to relax." Hermione urges while coming to sit next to me.
"What if it's Charlie?" I ask her, my eyes dancing with worry.
"They wouldn't let you sit here in teh dark like that if it was Charlie." she assures me.
The anxiety of the evening causing both of us to remain awake while we waited for word of what had happened. Hermione tells me while we wait that Draco and her had become closer. He revealed his feelings to her and promised her he'd do anything for her. During Snape's meeting with him, he'd been informed he'd need to study with Snape so he wouldn't get caught in his lies. Draco knew the dangers that lied ahead, putting himself in a similar position to Snape. He'd chosen to disregard it all for her.
"Love, huh?" I say questioning.
Her face reddens as she begins finding her hands increasingly interesting. "I wouldn't say love, but he really does care for me."
"I'd say love." I say winking, trying to distract myself.
"I don't know what lies ahead, but I'm happy your my friend." Hermione says to me suddenly serious.
"I don't either, but we can do it." I assure her, taking her hands into my own.
Morning came and we raced to Dumbeldore's office to find it empty. Of course he wouldn't be there. Why would he be there when he could be off to Merlin knows where? I drag Hermione to Snape's office, knowing he usually ate breakfast a bit later htan the other professors.
Not bothering to knock we barge into his office adn find him sitting at his desk, as if awaiting us. He glances in our direction and back down to his copy of the prophet as he gestures to the chairs in front of his desks.
"Arthur Weasley was attacked last night. Potter had a vision of it and order members rushed there adn were able to save him. He's in St. Mungo's recovering but he'll be okay." Snape tells us. I really appreciated his no nonsense approach more than ever as I let out a sigh.
"Thank you." I say leaning forward with my head in my hands.
"I think we need to talk more about the journals while your here." Hermione said.
I nodded. She was right, it was only invetiable. I dove right in and explained how they'd been on the run and met more than once. I told him about my mom's powers, something I'd have to figure out about. I tell him I want to go to her old home and he agrees that I should see if anything remains.
"Maxime shoudl be able to direct you to where it is." Hermione adds and Inod.
"You two, go eat. You'll be joining the Weasley's tomorrow so you might want to get packing." he says shooing us out of the door.
Hermione goes to leave and I tell her to go ahead of me and turn back to Snape who has an eyebrow raised.
"Can we trust Draco?" I inquire.
He sighs and nods. "He takes more of his mom's qualites. He loves and cares too much. I think we need to be cautious with what he knows, but his intentions with your friend are pure."
I nod. The boy without a choice had finally been given one. "Do you think he'll be okay?"
He nods. "I forget how much compassion you contain. He'll be okay. As will you. I promise I'll protect all of you to the best of my ablilites."
"Severus. Thank you." I say rushing to give him a hug before being pushed out of the door by him.
I walk back up to the Great Hall and sit with Hermione. Breakfast wasn't the same without the Weasley's and Harry. It seemed like pieces of our hearts had gone. We sit in mostly silence before I'd noticed Dumbeldore wasn't present at breakfast. During the next two meals I fidn that neither him or Remus had come. Hermione assured me it was fine and we'd see them the next day. I stopped inquiring, listening to her words.
We spent most of our free time that day packing and in the library trying to find more information on the Horcruxes or on Merlin. Idle hands are the devils play things, so the no-mags say. We tried busying ourselves to keep from find finding more trouble. I went to bed early that night hoping the next day would come faster. Tossing and turning it proved to be easier said than done. Growing annoyed Hermione had finally given me some sleepless draught that sent me right off into teh land of dreams.
A/n: Is it weird if I make longer chapters? Lol
