-Before I begin writting in this I must express how beautiful the leather is on this journal. Papa found it in a muggle bookshop and brought it home for me as my graduation gift. He tells me writing down things will help me remember and honor my my memories. I laughed but here I am, writing down the adventures of one Judith Lee Martin Smalls. I know two names is weird but Papa says it's to keep me safe, so I'd never questioned it.
-Things seem to be growing darker. Mama has passed away from Dragon Pox and Papa has moved us to a village. It's a very small village where everyone seems to know each other. I believe them all to be muggles. They seem to like Papas potions to heal themselves. They know it's made from natural elements, keeping them not knowing of our magic and away from the Ministry.
-As the days still seem bleak Papa has shown me some new magic. He tells me others are unable to do these spells, something to do with our lineage and knowledge. Papa says we must remain with the light, even in the darkest of times. He shows me spells to heal creatures wordlessly. He has shown me how to keep others from invading my mind. He's also shown me how to help certain plants grow and bloom. Magic is such a beautiful thing.
- For the first time since we'd come to the village Papa has allowed me to heal some of the villagers, recently attacked by a werewolf. Some sustained injuries too great, but others were easily healed. We still search for a way to assist with their curse, although, no leads as of now.
-I've grown accustomed to life here in the village. Papa allows me out in the mornings to help women with thier children and help gather supplies for meals. I've been able to learn how to tend to a home, care for the livestock, and see how they run their homes. I hope one day I can fall in love and take care of a home for my children. Papa tells me not to grow so fast however, in these times, how can we not?
-Today, we've secretly gotten the Prophet mailed to us. More families have gone missing. There are more attacks that are claimed to be done by.. I believe they were called Death Eaters. I wonder if we will be able to hide until this is over.
-Papa has recieved a letter today from Albus Dumbeldore. This will be the first journal I am able to write that isn't kept short and hidden. Up until now I've had to keep my journal entries hidden. He wouldn't like me documenting the possiblity of one of the children discovering my book. Papa was called forth to join an organization. One acclaimed to bring help to the light side of the war. I was to remain here, in safety. I've been ever so slowly gaining more magical power, learning to keep it hidden. It comes in bursts, but I've been reading through some of our family books. They are filled with spells and documentations. Papa believes in this Albus, so shall I.
-I haven't written recently. It's been busy here in teh village. Papa hasn't come back yet and the villagers seek aid within me. I've been trying to help but Ican feel their frustrations growing. The villagers here don't really use galleons to purchase things. They exchange goods and abliites. If this is to continue I don't know how much longer I can stay.
-I've done my first successful treatment today. One of those suffered from the werewolf bite. I've been able to convince them it was a potion that I had constructed. Truthfully within my abilites, I've been able to wordlessly at lease ease the pain for those during the transition. I have been thinking aobut leaving lately. It's been months and Ihaven't heard from my father.
-today, a man approached me. He has a funny name, Regulus. The same as the star. I've been listening to him speak to me today telling me that Voldemort has been searching for me for quite some time. He's informed me of what I'd already believed to be true, my father is dead. A werewolf by the name of Greyback, brutally murdered him. I shall get my revenge one day, for now I need to move locations. I will write again when I can.
-I've been on the move lately. Fleeing France I've come to Ukraine. I can safely say, I won't be staying long. I've been staying no longer than a week in a given location. I'd learned how to pick up side jobs along the way for the muggles. They allow me to do odd jobs, allowing me to purchase food. One of the ablities I've learned is that Ican understand languages. It's as if my mind translates for me upon my given needs. I must go now.
-I'm now back visiting my old home. I know the risks. I've come to retreive photographs and journals before I extend my journey into the woods. I've found enoguh money to last me for awhile. I've added a couple of small bags with extension charms into a much larger bag with an extension charm. Imust move now, but I hope to find some peace soon.
The next few entries were unreadable, looking like they were splashed with water. Skipping those entries I continue to read:
-It's been quite some time since I've written. I'm finally safe in a home in America. I was sitting on the edge of the cave, ready to end it all when a house elf begged for my help. I saved a dying man, Regulus. He was the one who saved me before, so I figured it was time to return the favor. I've been assisting in healing him, hoping to find out just what he was doing at that cave. When he wakes up, I'll be sure to tell him he's saved me once more.
