Via/Jyla

"What happened back there?" Jyla asked as soon as they stepped out of the portal. Via ignored her question and walked to her big chair. "Hello? I asked a question". Jyla was obviously annoyed. Gercia got on her nerves quickly. "Okay" Via crossed her hands, "what do you want to know?" "I thought you said we were going to save them".

"And we did".

"No, we didn't. You left them with the Witch Hunters".

"Jyla" Via sighed, "in our world, you have to outsmart your enemy". Jyla was confused. Via leaves her confused most times. Via snapped her fingers and an orb appeared in her hands. She shot orange sparks inside. "While they weren't looking", Via spoke as she continued with the magic, "I took a strand of hair from each of them". Via place the strands on the orb which got sucked in. "And now", she walked to Jyla to show her the image in the orb, "I can keep an eye on my witches".

Jyla was impressed. A little bit scared but still impressed. "Remind me to never get on your bad side". Jyla laughed. "I certainly will". Via smiled at her. Jyla's phone started ringing. "Shit!" She cursed, "I'm so dead!" She pulled out the device to confirm her fears. It was Hannah. "What's wrong?" Via was worried.

"I have to get home. Now! I'm totally late for dinner and they are going to flip".

"You can't go back there". Jyla stopped her panicking and stared at Via. "And why is that?" She frowned. "What part of today don't you understand?" Via asked, "there are witches out there waiting to capture you and they can poison you too. We both know that's not going to end well". Jyla slung her bag over her shoulders, "I'm sorry but I have to go", she said, "I have no excuse to give them".

Her phone rang again. Via snatched it, "Hannah?" Via imitated Jyla's voice. "Jy! Where have you been?!" Hannah shouted, "David and I have been worried sick. I know you had an awful day at school but that doesn't mean you can't come home". "I'm sorry for scaring you guys", Via apologized, "but I have a project due tomorrow morning and I went over to my lab partner's house. Her name is Via Hegens".

"I haven't heard that name before".

"We actually met today in Science class. She showed me around".

"Sounds like you have a friend". Hannah smiled.

"Sort of. Anyways, can I sleep over? We're not gonna be done for hours. And don't worry, her parents are here to supervise".

Hannah sighed, "I know you're a good kid and...well, this is the most excited you've been since we got here", she smiled, "so yes...you can sleep over". "Thank you so much! Love you guys!" "We love you too". With that, Hannah hung up. "You're welcome". Via gave a stunned Jyla her phone.

Jyla shook her head to break out of the trance. "How did you do that?" Jyla asked still in disbelief. "I've been with humans for almost six years", Via answered casually, "so I know to act like one. Besides, I'm great at doing voices". "You're full of surprises", she chuckled nervously, "I am literally scared of you". "Don't be" Via shrugged. "Hold up!" Jyla still couldn't get this in her head, "how old are you?" "I'm about to be nineteen. Why?" Via quirked her eyebrows, "do I look older?" "No! No!" Jyla shook her head, "you look great but...we're the same age and yet you act so grown up". "Perks of having a job". Via smiled.

"Well" Via changed the topic, "since we're working on a project". Jyla chuckled with Via. "How about  we both get ready and I'll start your training". "That's fine by me". Jyla replied. "Your room will be the first one on the left side. Upstairs", Via instructed, "and if you need anything like toothpaste or extra towels, just call me. And I will put fresh clothes on the bed". "It's feels kinda weird that I'm have a bath three times a day". "You can decide  not to have one but I feel totally uncomfortable after being in The Infern".

Jyla snickered as she took her bag to the room. Via sneaked to the basement to check on Byl. She can't tell Jyla about Byl yet. The girl might be acting tough and controlled but Via could read her. She terrified and this would only make it worse. "I know that someone else is with you", Byl whispered in a shady voice, "her magic aura is just as strong as yours". "I know". Via confirmed.

She stared at the witch, "do you have any idea who was sent to get her?" She asked. "No. We were only sent to the Liases and the Consuls". The witch had a prompt response, "if someone made a direct attack then..." "She knows". Via completed with a heavy sigh. "You're going to be of great use to me, Byl", she said, "so don't think you'll be leaving anytime soon". Via conjured up a bottled water and walked away.

The mere thought of her mother being aware that Jyla was here made her blood turn to ice. She needs to get Jyla to Solegad as soon as possible. Jyla was busy in the shower. She allowed the water to splash on her face. Via was someone that she could trust. So why am I still puzzled about her? She thought. She knew that Via felt the same way. They both have a strong connection but why?

The purple sparks in her fingers distracted her mind. She tried to ball her hands into fists but the magic wasn't going away. She shrugged and continued to apply soap to her skin. Her right arm suddenly felt hot. She screamed her lungs out. "Jyla" Via whispered as she heard the scream. She wanted to run to her but her left arm burned.

She groaned in pain but still looked at the hand. A mark was outlining just like a tattoo. The pain stopped when the mark was bold in black ink. It looked like Weis (the witch's star) but half of it. What the hell? She thought. Jyla jumped into the tank top and sweatpants that Via laid out for her. She ran downstairs. The first place she could think of was Via's office.

Via was holding her hand and so was Jyla. "It happened to you too?" Jyla asked. Via just nodded her head. Jyla stood in front of Via and said, "on the count of three, we'll both remove our hands and see if this makes sense". "Fine" Via breathed.

One....Two...Three...

They both removed their hands. The other half of the star was on Jyla's right arm. The marks shimmered in a golden yellow light. Both their heads snapped to the portal that newly opened. Lorinth walked out of it. On seeing the marks, he gasped. Both of them heard the word he muttered under his breath. "Ataph"

Whoa! Cliffhanger! Some of you might have an idea of what's gonna happen next but for those of you who don't know, stick around😉!

Jyla and Via have that bond! But what kind? 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I have no idea!
