Via/ManterVia was dressed in a dark red pantsuit with a black button up shirt inside and black heels. Her hair was in a ponytail, her eyes were masked with eyeliner and her lips had a bright red. This was her intimidating look. Black lipstick was for serious business while red was for extremely serious business.
She had her team of Consuls behind her and they looked dead serious too. Today was the signing. During the last week, more witches were poisoned in Midtown so they had to speed things up. She had a special plan but this had to happen first.
She told Jyla about her promotion, Case and the marriage contract. Jyla was furious. She said a string of curses before Via calmed her down. Her first meeting with the Witch Hunters wasn't pleasant so Via didn't expect a different reaction. They talked about a lot of things including school. Jyla almost had a panic attack so Via explained that two witches were in school disguised as them.
They entered the Lower Hall and awaited the Witch Hunters. She wasn't ready to face those eyes that taunted her mind but Solegad comes first in everything. When Miltani told her the groom was Manter, she flipped but she couldn't voice out her complains. She and Manter just wouldn't work out. She found him attractive and there was this unexplained pull she had towards him but...
A portal opened and the Witch Hunters walked out. Manter was nervous under the serious mask of his face. He didn't know why. He had met Via a couple of times but something was different now. He wanted to see her face under all that makeup. Earlier today, he was tempted to back out.
"Dude" Valer chuckled, "you'll get dizzy with all this pacing". "Do you think this is funny?" Manter frowned, "I'm getting engaged!" "Yeah, we all know", Valer held his shoulder, "you were okay before why the pacing?" Manter checked the box with the diamond ring again. "She'll love it". Valer whispered. "I wasn't...I don't...it doesn't matter if she likes it". He stutter. Valer laughed and nodded, "sure it doen't".
"Honestly. She keeps me on edge".
"Why?" Valer became serious.
"Have you ever seen her smile? Or have you seen her without her makeup?"
"Now that you mentioned it...I haven't".
"Exactly. She's the most mysterious witch I have ever seen. I can never tell if she's happy, sad, disappointed, angry or frustrated and I'm going to live with her for the rest of my life". Valer patted his shoulder and said, "I know you Manter and if there's anyone who can help her, it's you".
Now that Manter was standing face to face with her, he wasn't sure he wanted to be here. She had a very intimidating look. He had never seen her in red lipstick before and man, was she gorgeous. If only she could smile. Get a grip of yourself Manter! He thought. He wasn't the only one who starstruck. Via's heart skipped a bit when she saw him. He looked amazing in his dark blue suit. He black hair was messy as always and those blue eyes...Forget them Via. You have a job to do. She probed herself.
"High Consul Hegens" Manter stretched out his hand. "Let's get down to business", she ignored his polite gesture and took her seat. Valer nodded his head to Manter and Manter sighed. They all sat down and Via started talking. "We believe that both parties have some terms and conditions so we will exchange documents and a maximum of five minutes will be given to each group to be accustomed with them. Once that is done, we will all sign the terms before proceeding to sign the document that stated the permanency of this Agreement and then the rings will be exchanged. Are we all clear?"
They all nodded. Karl handed a two page document to Scalar and she did the same. Via and the other Consuls wasted no time to accept their terms. What they were all looking for was a clause against fuming and once they saw that, every other clause was bearable. The Witch Hunters didn't have any complains either.
Via signed it first and passed it to the next person. Manter followed suit. "Now that we are all on the same page, we can sign the Agreement". She announced. She picked the dagger and made a little cut on her palm. The drop of blood formed her signature on the paper. It wasn't supposed to be a blood covenant but the witches had a feeling the Witch Hunters wouldn't keep their word.
"This is not entirely fair", Valer muttered when it was his turn, "I don't have magic to heal my pretty hand". Via almost smiled. She was grateful that he wanted to ease the tension in the room. Via and Manter exchanged the velvet boxes. Via instantly felt her heart burst. She adored the ring. It was beautiful. Manter was also impressed. The ring had a Tali engraved around it. He knew Via put personal thoughts into it because it looked like the Tali on his arm.
They both looked at each other before wearing the rings. Via felt a spark and from the look on Manter's face, she knew he felt it too. That was just the nature of marriages in Solegad. The couple is united by magic. "Just so you know, this-" Via pointed to her ring, "-means nothing until this battle is over. We clear?" "Crystal" was the only word Manter could say.
They all shook hands and left the Hall. Once they got out of the elevator, the witches applauded them. "Via!" A light voice called. It was Authimus. She ran to Via and hugged her legs. "Please tell Mommy to leave me here with you". She battered her eyelashes. "Authimus!" Terah called, out of breath, "I am so sorry, High Consul. The little troublemaker shared my portal". "It's okay, Sergeant". Via gave a little smile.
"He's cute". Authimus suddenly said pointing at Manter. "You like him?" Via raised her eyebrows. "I just stated a fact. I never said I liked him", the little girl rolled her eyes, "he doesn't seem like a warlock. What are you?" Manter thought the girl looked cute. He crouched down to say something but she put her hand in front of his face, "never bend to talk to me", she sassed, "how do I know your breath doesn't stink?" "Authimus!" Terah scolded.
The little girl waved her mother's words. Manter just smiled. He found her confidence amusing. "You're a feisty little witch, aren't you?" He cooed. He tried to touch her cherry red hair but she smacked his hand away. "No one touches the hair", she glared at him then smiled at Via, "except Aunt Via". "Of course", Via touched the girl's cheek, "but why aren't you at homeroom?" "I hate it there!" She whined and pouted. "That's because you spray painted their classroom". Via said slowly. "And dyed all their hair. That was why I went there today", Terah added, "they were not pleased". "They said I should be creative and I needed models". Authimus defended.
Manter and the other Witch Hunters admired the girl. Even Karl found her interesting. Authimus sighed, "I better get going. Mommy wants me to apologize even though I did them a favor", she hugged Via again, "bye Via. Bye Manter and congratulations!" She waved her hands in the air and confetti fell on them. Authimus skipped away and Terah gave Via an apologetic look before chasing after the girl.
"That was...intriguing". Manter muttered. What did I get myself into? He thought. Life with the Witches was definitely going to be full of surprises.
What a turn out of events! I hope I tried with the building of the ship. I can't wait for it to set sail😉.
Authimus is that little sister we all need.
