Via/Manter

Manter removed his sword from the last demon. He wiped the Ichor from his face with so much disgust. Via decoded his expression. For some reason, he was doing this out of hate. They were all fighting out of hate but his seemed like he was trying to even a score. She cared about him even if she acted like she didn't.

Manter was filled with so much rage that he didn't notice Via's eyes on him. He watched earlier as she threw every blast. She looked beautiful no matter what she was doing. This last demon almost ambushed her and he couldn't let that happen. He didn't understand his feelings for her but he won't lose her to a demon.

"You look like shit". Valer said to him. "You too" Manter retorted. "At least, I make it fashionable". Valer flashed a cocky grin. Manter scoffed. "At least they're down" Valer switched to being serious. "For now" Via quipped as their phones went off. "Karl said they're also done". Valer read his text. "Cilo said there is no rift". Manter read his. "Hessae found out what demons we're facing and the Fate Brothers are at The Agency", Via read hers, "let's go".

They didn't bother to get cleaned first as Via made a portal. After they all walked out, Via felt a little dizzy. She almost fell but Manter caught her. "What happened to her?" Miltani asked with concern. "She used a lot of her energy in the fight. She made a force field and she has made several portals today". Manter explained. Via shook her head as Manter put her back on her feet. "I'll be fine" she mumbled.

Minos made a sign to Acacus. "From their appearance, we can tell that this has gone too far". Acacus said. "Can you tell us why they did it in the first place?" Miltani asked. "Unfortunately, I cannot and I believe that does not interest you as much as protecting your kind". He said. Rhadamanthus made a sign to Acacus. "We are willing to lend you the Emorum but on no account should it fall into the wrong hands. The consequences are disastrous". He warned, "and no witch possessing dark magic should wield the weapons made with it. We have no knowledge of the effects it might have".

Manter looked at Via. She wanted to ask him if she could trust him with it but he acted like a mind reader. "I promise that nothing will happen to it. Once we are done using it, we will return it back". "You can't use it outside The Infern", Via warned, "the wards would keep the Noter witches out and demons. Do I have your word?" "Yes" he quickly answered.

Minos placed the ember into his hand. Manter closed his hand over the glowing blue stone. The Fate Brothers made a portal. "Ah, yes!" Acacus paused, "you both saved his life. Do not be a stranger". With those words, they left. "That was creepy", Valer was the first to talk, "did you see their skin?"

Manter sighed. It was only Via who understood his words. That put a weight in her chest. Miltani made a portal for the Witch Hunters except Manter who claimed he wanted to know what demon they were dealing with. In reality, he wanted to make sure Via was okay. She seemed pretty drained.

They met Hessae in the Infirmary. "Good thing, you're here". She said. She would have hugged Via but they were still dirty. "After some tests and the reports on how fast the demons were spreading", she explained, "I found out that we're dealing with Spectra demons. Spectra demons are sent to cause chaos. Whoever sent them can harness the darkness they cause after every slaughter".

"We tried to find a rift where they could be coming from since they were quite a number but Cilo didn't find any". Via said.

"That's because they don't need a rift. Spectra demons come in different forms. Some have skeletal wings, others come as shadow demons and they are a few shape shifters. They can mutate themselves after a kill resulting to duplicates. All they needed was someone with enough power to make a portal to send them all to the human city".

Via's mind went to her mother. She did give her mother a powerful relic but she couldn't be sure. "There's something else". Hessae sighed. She couldn't keep it a secret and she didn't want Via to do something crazy if she found out from someone else. "Scalar and her team were attacked", Hessae said, "they took Kenith". "Are they okay? How did the demons get there so fast?" Via was really worried because this could be her fault.

Hessae looked away for a moment. She took out her phone and played the phone conversation.

Hessae, we need back up. Fast! Why? What happened?! Some witches just showed up. Noter witches. What?! I don't have time to explain. Get the Sergeant or anybody. Some of us are already down. Hurry! Where exactly are...? Making a distress call? It was a new voice. Too bad! This rotten city will pay for everything they've done to me.

"The call got disconnected afterwards. They are all in the dispense unit". Hessae added. Via balled her hands into fists. She was furious. How could he?! She thought. She walked out of the room. Manter was still trying to understand why she was angry that he couldn't catch up to her before she jumped into the portal.

He sighed. Via was a great leader but anger would help make questionable decisions. He remembered the Emorum in his hand. He had to go back. He just hoped that Via was safe.

He went to the High Witch who seemed pretty distressed. "Where's Via?" She asked. "I don't know", he confessed, "she just made a portal and left".

"What?! What happened before then?"

"We were with Hessae Plut. She had information about the type of demon and then she mentioned that Consul Flear and her team were attacked. She played their last phone conversation and she just left".

"That makes no sense".

"I know. I need to head back to The Infern. I'm sure Via is fine". He was assuring himself more than her. Miltani made the portal for him and walked to the Infirmary. Via was capable of making rash decisions when she was upset.

Via was furious because she had connected the dots. That big attack on Kenith was made after Case had been removed from Solegad. Her mother said she wanted her to get married to a 'special' friend. The only person who wouldn't have been aware of the engagement was Case and she knew she heard his laughter when she went there the second time.

For all she knew, Zirim could have made the portal. The person that told her about the demons never said how they got there. This could all be part of her master plan. Whatever that was. "Mother!" She shouted angrily as the barged into the throne room. Just as she suspected, Case was standing by her side and they looked like they were in the middle of a celebration. "You!" She spat.

What's gonna happen? Should Via have calmed down? Is Zirim really involved with this?
