UNLOCKED SPOILERS AHEAD!!
I'm not sure if anyone is actually going to read this because I currently have zero followers, but if you do, I hope you enjoy! Votes, views, comments etc are very appreciated! This is my very first wattpad story and my first fanfic so I'm not sure how good it will be lol (slowly editing, ignore all the typos and grammar mistakes cuz I'm sure everyone can relate ahah)
I honestly don't like the first few chapters AT ALL (they're poorly written in my opinion, I'll probably redo them later if I ever get the time lol) but I promise it gets more exciting. Thank you! :)
Love, Keefe.
Love, Keefe.
Love, Keefe.
Sophie couldn't seem to get the words out of her head.
They echoed around in her brain, like a never-ending chant. Consumed her every thought. Were always there in the back of her mind.
Sophie stared at crystals dangling from her ceiling, watching the light as it refracted around her room. The light created shapes that shifted in the ever-changing sun, dancing all over her walls. A small prism formed, reflecting off the windows. Sophie tried to smile at the sight of a rainbow, but her heart wasn't in it. The only person who could cheer her up was the person making her miserable. Even with the curtains, brightness still managed to seep through the huge windows, casting a faint light on her flowered carpet.
The books on her shelf had added a new layer of dust to themselves over the past weeks, and the sweet scent from her flowered carpet had dwindled.
Sophie turned over in her bed, shifting her head so she wouldn't be blinded. On the nightstand next to her bed, Iggy was bouncing around in his cage chewing on her slipper. He let out a stinky burp when Sophie spotted him, but she didn't have the energy to care.
And sitting next to Iggy was Keefe's letter.
It had been almost three weeks since Keefe had disappeared to the Forbidden Cities, and all Sophie had done was bury herself under her blankets and refuse to resurface.
She supposed she could have been more productive. Moping around all day definitely wasn't helping. For example, stealing a cobalt blue leaping crystal from Grady searching every city, but that wouldn't have been much use. Teleporting wouldn't work either. Sophie didn't have the energy to open the void anyway. The humans had millions of cities, and millions of people in each city, so the chances of her finding Keefe were pretty low.
The sadness crushing down on her was unbearable. It felt like a chasm had been ripped open inside of her chest, and all of her happy thoughts and feelings collapsed into it. The only way to seal it up was with the sight of a single person she might never see again.
Sophie tried to think of other things to take her mind off of being sad, but somehow she always circled back to a single boy. Most of her best memories had Keefe in them anyway, it wasn't her fault she couldn't get him out of her head. Her and Keefe were friends. Best friends, so it was natural for Sophie to be always thinking about him, right?
After the initial shock of reading his letter had washed over Sophie, she began to get angry. What was Keefe thinking, running away to the Forbidden Cities? What was he going to do, live there for the rest of his life? Surely someone would notice the fact that he wasn't aging. He would come back eventually, right?
And that was the part that scared Sophie the most.
Was he going to come back?
It wasn't like when Keefe had joined the Neverseen. Some part of Sophie knew that even then, he would have to return eventually, for... well, it was a silly thought, but... for her.
