Keefe was flying.

He was floating, spinning, dancing in the air and his heart was soaring and he felt so happy that he was sure he would explode.

Because Sophie loved him.

Sophie loved him.

She was the only girl he'd ever been able to think about since the moment they met, and she loved him. Keefe could feel it in her too. He was even able to feel it before she told him aloud; silently growing for years in her heart, but because things kept getting in the way she'd pushed the feeling aside.

Keefe hadn't really meant to tell her that way. He wasn't sure when or how he'd planned it in his mind, but it definitely wasn't like that. Something inside of him just snapped, because he was tired and confused and in pain and searching for anything.

It was like a massive weight had been lifted off his chest, and it was terrifying for what felt like forever because he was sure he'd be met with rejection. But now he just felt free. And happy to be alive. What could be better than this?

It was the next morning, but Keefe had barely been able to sleep at all last night. Ro, of course, had pried every little detail out of him after he'd gone back to the Shores of Solace. Keefe had come yesterday night, hoping to avoid talking to his dad. They'd barely spoken to each other since he'd returned.

Keefe had snuck into his room and tried to silently close the door, only to find Ro lurking in the corner and nearly scaring him to death.

Keefe jumped. "Why do you have to stand there like that? It's creepy."

Ro had just marched up to him, clearly angry. "Listen Hunkyhair, I don't know how you snuck out of here without me noticing, but since I'm your bodyguard I have to be with you all the time. Not that I want to be, or that I really care that much, but it looks bad on me if you get yourself hurt. Alright? And—" Ro frowned. "Wait. Why are you smiling?"

Keefe had been trying to listen to her, but he'd just kept replaying it all in his mind and couldn't stop the grin on his face.

That was when Ro had started to put it together. She'd sucked in a breath. "You were at Blondie's weren't you?"

"No." He walked across the room and away from Ro to try and hide the way his face was lit up.

Ro caught up to him though. "You were at Blondie's!"

His smile only widened. "Maybe," Keefe said, flopping down onto his bed.

His bodyguard studied him, eyes narrowed for a long moment. Then she raised her eyebrows. "Wait. Wait wait wait. Did she... did you...?"

Keefe covered his face with his hands. He knew he was blushing now; it was going to give him away.

Ro gasped so loudly he was sure she'd broken her ribcage. Then she screamed. "It happened! Did it happen? Look at your face! It totally happened. The Great Foster Oblivion has come to an end?"

Keefe peeked at Ro through his fingers which were still covering his red cheeks and huge smile. "Maybe..."

Ro screamed again, surprisingly high-pitched. "Funkyhair, you have to tell me everything."

And so he had, but maybe not everything. Ro had mostly forced it all out of him. He knew she wasn't going to let up until he told her about it, so he did. Besides, Keefe did want to tell someone, maybe even brag about it a little. He just felt amazing, like nothing could bring down his mood.

But currently, Keefe was lying in bed, waiting for his imparter to ring. Sophie told him she'd call him in the morning, but he wasn't sure what time and he didn't want to accidentally miss her hail.
