Y/N POV

It had been three months since Crystal and I arrived at Patch, We ended up staying with Ruby and Yang when Tai offered to let us stay in the spare room after he learned that we didn't really have a place to go, Crystal had spent most of her time here with Yang and I was currently out front of the house helping Ruby with her hand to hand technique.

Y/N: "Alright let's start."

Ruby threw a punch at me I blocked it with my arm.

Y/N: "Come on Ruby you can do better than that."

She then uses her semblance and zips around behind me and tries to attack me again, I stepped off to the side and grabbed her arm pulling her forward and putting my foot out tripping her she fell to the ground with a thud.

Ruby: "Oof, ow."

Y/N: "You good there?"

Ruby: "This is too hard."

I lent down and grabbed Ruby under the arm and dragged her to her feet.

Y/N: "I expected you to be able to put up at least a bit of a fight."

Ruby: "Oh yeah why's that?"

Y/N: "Well I assumed that Yang would have tried to at least teach you something."

Ruby: "Well yeah she did, But I kind of ended up hiding and she got attacked by an Ursa, so we had to go home after that."

Y/N: "Well then how about we go over the basics."

Ruby: "What why? I already know how to punch and block and things like that."

Y/N: "So you're telling me that once you learn something you don't practice it after."

Ruby: "What no, I just."

Y/N: "Then come on, also from what I saw before it seems like it would do you good to go over the basics again."

Ruby: "Ugh fine."

Y/N: "Good, now show me how you normally would punch something."

Ruby: "Uh ok."

She demonstrated to me her way of punching, she was completely off balance her body was too far forward messing up her centre of gravity.

Y/N: "OK, so stop leaning forward with it."

Ruby: "Wha?"

Y/N: "You're leaning forward it's causing you to go off balance which is not good in a fight."

Ruby: "Uh, ok."

Y/N: "Here let me show you."

I showed her how I punch without leaning.

Ruby: "So, what's the difference?"

Y/N: "Ugh, alright so I want you to punch at me but trying to do it as I just did."

Ruby: "Ok."

She did as I said and instead of leaning into the punch she tried to do it as I showed, when she did I stepped off to the side pulled on her arm and caused her to go stumbling forward.

Ruby: "Hey!"

Y/N: "Ok now I want you to punch at me as you would normally."

Ruby: "So we're going back to that now?"

Y/N: "Just do it."

Ruby: "Fine."

She punched at me leaning in as she did earlier, I did the same thing and grabbed her arm pulling her forward she fell over this time though.
