Crystal POV

Later that same day Ren, Nora and Jaune were making dinner for us all, Ruby and I were in the front sitting room and Oscar was down in the training room.

Jaune: "Food's almost ready, can someone go get Oscar."

Crystal: "Yeah we'll do it. Come on Ruby."

Ruby: "Yeah."

We left the room and made our way to the training room descending the steps to the room we saw Oscar with Ozpins cane in hand.

Ruby: "You're really getting better, huh? Are you hungry? It's almost dinnertime."

Oscar: "Uh, yeah. That sounds good. I was about to call it a night anyway."

Crystal: "You sure you never fought before?"

Oscar: "Just the occasional small Grimm. Nothing like this, though."

Crystal: "You're sure picking it up fast then."

Oscar: "It's strange, I have only had this cane for a few weeks, but... I feel like I've had it for a lifetime. Longer, even. I sound like a crazy person."

Ruby: "I mean, uh, yeah just a little. But at this pace, you'll be combat ready in no time!"

Ruby frowns after saying that last line.

Ruby: "Well see you guys upstairs."

She then walked back up the stairs and out of sight.

Crystal: "Ruby."

Oscar: "How do you handle all this?"

Crystal: "What do you mean?"

Oscar: "I know earlier I said that I wouldn't give up but I'm still scared. I'm more scared than I've ever been in my life, than I ever thought was possible. I always knew that I wanted to be more than a farmhand, but this? Who would ask for this?

Crystal: "No one would, but it's still happening, it's why we all went to Beacon so we can help people, which is why we need to press on and--"

Oscar: "How can you be so confident?! People have tried to kill you! The world's about to go to war all over again! How are you okay with any of this?!!"

Crystal: "I'm not! None of us are! Do you think I wanted to see my family and friends slaughtered in front of me when I was barely a teen? None of us were okay when Beacon was attacked. We lost two of our friends that day, we may not have known them for long but Penny and Pyrrha were some of the strongest and kindest people I ever met, but that didn't save them, Pyrrha died fighting an unwinnable battle but she didn't hesitate for a moment when it came to saving others, but Penny, she was killed just to make a statement. I would have also died that night if it weren't for my friends."

Oscar: "I'm... Sorry."

Crystal: "We are all scared like you, but what happened at Beacon shows that Salem doesn't care If you're standing against her or not, she'll kill anyone that is even slightly an obstacle. Everyone I've lost I'd be lying if I said that it didn't hurt, I'm honestly not sure how much more I can take but that's why I will protect my friends, and that includes you, no matter how dangerous it gets I will keep moving forward."

I turned around and was about to head back up the steps.

Crystal: "The fact that you're trying in the first place, it says a lot about you, you're braver than you think."

I went up the stairs and went to the dining room the table was already set and the others were seated I went and took a seat next to Ruby.

Crystal: "Hey you doing alright?"
