ricky and nini have had their ups and downs this past year and a half, but as they finally think they have their happy endin...
at the end of the day, nini had to say goodbye to ricky and met up again with aria and jacob, the three driving to the café for nini's shift and to meet up with the others
when they walked through the door, nini met up with ashlyn at the counter while aria and jacob went to go sit down.
"hey neens, you know you could maybe sing during the tuesday night live performances," ashlyn smirks
nini shakes her head with a smile "oh no, i'm perfectly fine."
"but it would help with business!" ashlyn exclaims
"the café is doing perfectly fine already." nini replies with a grin as she puts her apron on and takes a notepad
she goes over to the booth where the others are, seeing them all talking about different things
"usuals right?" nini asks them; who all nod knowingly before she looks at elena "i'll get you a menu,"
elena smiles thankfully as nini walks off before turning back to gina rolling her eyes and snapping her fingers in front of ricky's face, who blinked out of his trance rapidly and looked at the others
"you already have her as your girlfriend, now stop acting like a creepy stalker," gina sighs as she shakes her head
ricky rolls his eyes and leans back against the seat as he listened in on the conversation
meanwhile, nini was still taking the different plates from others while taking people's orders before arriving at the counter and hearing the bell ring.
she had her hands full, so she put the plates on the surface of the kitchen window and took a deep breath
"sorry, what can i get-"
she stops mid-sentence when seeing james standing there fiddling with his fingers as he looked back at her
"hey nini," he says "uh-nice to see you..."
nini took a deep breath "james." she greeted with a curt nod as she made her way towards the cashier "what can i get you?"
"uh-two chocolate muffins, for take away." he replies, taking out a wallet
nini nodded slowly and put in the order in silence, feeling a pair of eyes on her from afar.
"how've you been?" he asks
nini glances up at him "uh-good. and you?"
"good."
before nini could say anything, a familiar voice cut her off
"hey babe could you add a vanilla milkshake for elena?"
james and nini turn to see ricky with an innocent facial expression, but his eyes held another emotion and his jaw was clenched.
"sure..." nini says quietly
ricky turns his head to see james "oh! hey dude, didn't see you there."
james nodded "hey ricky, nice to see you."
"i'd say the opposite given recent circumstances." ricky snaps, keeping a smile on his face.
nini widened her eyes and james chuckles nervously before she hands him the paper bag of muffins, to which he takes
"i'll-see you guys around i guess," he mumbles, quickly making his way out of the café.
nini let out a breath and looked at ricky with a raised eyebrow as she folded her arms.
"what?" he asks confused, leaning his hands against the counter.
"'hey dude! didn't see you there!'" nini mimicked in a deep voice, ricky shrugging his shoulders
"well i'm not going to say 'nice to see you' am i?" he asks her.
the girl shakes her head with a small smile and he sits at the stool of the counter.
"you act like such a lost puppy, go sit with the others." nini laughs as she taps on the cashier register.
"they're boring." he huffs
"i'm working ricky," she reminds him
"okay, then i get you after." he winks as he jumps up from the stool
"what now?" she asks with a sigh, failing to hide a smile.
"you'll see," he sings before heading back to the others.
