Escape

I arrive at the house and see my mom is home and I smile.I walk in and see my mom sitting up on the couch and my dad in the kitchen.she sits up to the sound of the door. "Where have you been" she says sternly. "I was surfing,I meant to tell dad but he was asleep" I say defending myself and she huffs.

"I was texting you and calling you,you couldn't even try to answer your mom" she says walking towards me. "I didn't bring my phone,I'm sorry" I say. "I bought you that phone,for me and him to call you and for you to tell us where your going" she says.

"Mom,I know!" I shout on accident.dad straightens up and my mom looks at me shocked.he walks over and yanks the board out of my arms. "Dad!"

"You wanna sneak out and go surfing?huh?try surfing with this." He shouts at me taking my board and bringing it outside.I give my mom a glance and she looks shocked.I chase after him to see him putting gasoline on it. "No!" I say I run up to him and yank on his arm trying to stop him.

"Ok that's enough!" My mom yells from behind me but it's no use. He pulls out a match and lights it. "Dad!stop!" I yell as tears fall from my face.he pushes me off of him and onto the ground.he throws the match and my board lights up.

I quickly run back into the house and grab a bowl of water.I run back out and throw the water on it and the fire goes out,but it's to late.my board is now burnt.

I look at my dad with anger written on my face. "How could you do this!" I yell at him and try to push him but he pushes me instead. "I did this for a reason maybe you will learn something from it" he says and walks into the house.

My mom stands shocked then walks over to me. "Hey,it's okay" he says trying to wrap her arms around me. "Get away from me!" I shout at her walking backwards.she frowns and a tear falls down her face.how could she possibly be sad right now.she let this happen.she let him do this to me.she doesn't get to say its okay.she just doesn't.

I run back in the house and grab my phone and leave. "Where are you going!" My mom shouts at me but I don't answer and slam the front door walking into the grass.

"Lacey!"

"Just let her go,she will come back once she gets hungry" my dad says to my mom.

I walk down a path.how could someone treat their daughter like this.my only source of happy escape is gone.

I walk back to the beach,and see Kie.I smile.I wipe my eyes quickly. "Oh hey Lacey" she says. "Mind if I take up on that offer?" I ask,referring to her letting me stay at hers. "Everything alright" she asks giving me a hug and I'm taking aback.I'm not used to getting hugs. "My dad burned my board" I sniffle. "He got mad that I was sneaking out to surf so he burned it" I say and she hugs me tighter.

"I'm so sorry you have to go through this" she says,I look down at the ground as my lip quivers.I hate that people see me like this.weak. "Well let's go,the boys already left to John b's" she says pulling out of the hug.

We walk off the beach and she drives us to her house in her jeep.she arrives at a big house. "Wow" is all I can say and she chuckles. She's really living the kook life.

We walk in and all the lights in the house are off. "We have to be quiet,they are asleep" she whispers and I nod.we go up some stairs and she opens a door to see a pretty room. "This is my first sleepover with a girl in like forever" she says and I chuckle. "This is my first sleepover ever" I say looking around the room.

"Wait really?" She asks surprised and I nod with a chuckle "wow" she mutters.

We get ready for bed. "Hey,I forgot to say that tomorrow we are going to John b's,he said something about fishing" she says and I nod.I'm so lucky to have found a friend like her.I doze off into a comfortable sleep.

We are walking down to the dock where John b and the others where waiting for us.we walk up and JJ holds out a hand for me "m'lady" he says in a funny accent and I chuckle. "Why thank you,kind sir" I say in the same accent and we chuckle.

"Hey Lacey" pope says "sup" I answer and he smiles.

We arrive at a spot where John b said was a 'money pit' I chuckle at his words.

"Hey Lacey you wanna try?" JJ asks holding out his pole for me to take. "Oh I don't fish." I say and they look at me confused. "What,but you literally live in fishing paradise" John b says. "Ironic isn't it" I say and they chuckle.

After a while of fishing we arrive back at John b's chateau.I look around at the wooden building and smile.we walk in and sit down.it feels very homey.

"Im bored" Kie says when I get an idea. "Kegger?" I ask and they all smile.

Pope and John b carry the jug of alcohol onto the boneyard as people start to feel in every gap of the beach.instantly spreading out finding groups of people to talk to.

"Hey" I hear JJ say,I turn around and he hands me a cup.

"Thanks" I say taking a sip of the substance. "What where you doing at kies?" He asks. "Just a sleepover" I say.

"But you went home" he says. "Must you ask so many questions?" I say with a laugh. "I just wanna know you,the real you" he says catching me off guard. "I can tell that your lieing" he adds and I frown.

"My dad..got mad at me,and I didn't want to go home,so I came back and kie asked if I wanted to go to her house" I say shortly not leaving his eyes. "Okay" he mumbles.

We stare at each other for a while before I'm snapped out by a boy walking up to me. "Hey,pretty lady,is this boy bothering you" the boys slurs wrapping an arm around me.I move out of his grasp and stand by JJ. "Umm,no thanks" I say.

"Oh come on" he trys reaching out to me.JJ pulls me behind him. "Hey man,she doesn't want you" he says sternly to the boy.

The boy straightens up and looks JJ dead in the eyes. "JJ,it's fine" I say grabbing his hand and pulling him back.he looks at me then back at the boy and backs away.I let go of his hand and we walk away.I feel a hand on my butt and turn around quickly to see the boy.JJ turns quickly and pushes him away. "She doesn't want you!" He shouts at him.

The boy runs at JJ and knocks him to the ground. "Stop!" I yell at him pulling at his shirt trying to get him off but he pushes me to the sand. "John b!" I yell and he looks over and sees and runs over to JJ's side quickly.

John b pushes him off of him punching him in the face.I grab JJ's hand and help him up.

"You alright" I ask frantically holding his face in my hands he looks at me and his face softens,instead of answering he pushes past me and gets John b off. "Stay off the cut" he spits at the boy.Kie comes up behind me and reassures me.the boys gets up and spits blood out "you better watch your back pogue" he says to me and storms off.

I look around to see pope and kie with scared faces.I look back over at JJ just to see he was already looking at me.

"Shit" he mumbles and starts to walk off.

Whoever that was,he was bad news.
