When I walk into the hall outside the room that Four interrogated me in, I realize where I am. I know exactly where I'm going, finally!!! When I walk down the stairs to the compound I realize that everyone is staring at me. There's a moment of silence before Sarah speaks up.
"How'd you do it?" she asks, clearly confused.
"What-" I begin but I get cut off.
"Are you like secretly Spiderman?" A short boy asks.
"No then she must be a Spiderwoman or a Spidergirl!" a redhead says.
"No, guys come on, she's the Black Widow," another one says.
"She doesn't look like Scarlett Johansson to me," another one adds.
My head hurts. Josh and Sarah look at me. "You alright?" Josh asks.
"Yeah, I'm fine, I just- my head really hurts, I think I should lie down," I say.
"Of course, here, use this bed," Sarah gestures me to lie down.
"Thanks," I say as I drift off.
-
Sarah shook me awake.
"Jess! Jess! Come on, wake up! Wake up! Wake uppppp!!!" she sounded eager.
"Ugh," I groan. "What is it? Another 'training' lesson?" I say sarcastically.
"Oh, god we'd probably hide if that was the case," Josh said.
I sit up. "Then what is it?"
"Our first dinner!" Sarah squeaks.
"It's dinner time!!" Josh says in a British accent while dancing around.
A dry laugh escapes my mouth. "I'm so hungry, how long did I even sleep for?" I say.
"Eh, around few hours maybe," Josh says.
"Eric came to talk to us, I don't know if he noticed you were sleeping," Sarah giggles.
"I don't think he did, or else he'd whip you awake himself," Josh grins.
"You're not wrong," I say as we head with our group to dinner.
As we enter the dining hall the first thing I notice is the chaos, obviously. It looks like we don't even fit in here, this place is too small with too many people trying to push their way through to get some food to eat. Four sits alone at a table and since everyone walks towards him I figure we have to sit at his table.
Everyone's scared of Four, except me for some reason so I was the unlucky one and had to sit next to him. We sat down and started eating. We made small talk about the food. Josh, from candor sat opposite me and Sarah from amity sat to my right. I was so hungry I basically threw my plate in my mouth. Sarah just stared at me in disgust.
"Come on, have some politeness, Jess," she says. She's totally gonna act like she's my mom or something for the rest of my time here.
"Whatever," I say, while I swallow the yummy chicken nuggets I just grabbed.
"You told us you were from Erudite. Erudite are usually known as well-mannered at the dinner table, or at least that's what I've heard," Josh looks at me in confusion but also surprised.
"Well, I'm not an Erudite anymore, am I? Come on, let me live life a little," I say accusingly.
"YOLO!" I shout 'quirkily' at them, pretending to be a VSCO girl. They all laugh.
"Lucky that your friends are so gullible," Four whispers to me so nobody else hears.
"Shouldn't you just mind your own business? Have some small talk with your friends maybe?" I say.
He rolls his eyes at my comment. "Oh and by the way, where are they? Don't have any? Oh, too bad," I say. That threw him off guard. I ignored it and just kept eating.
I saw Eric walk in through the main door. I had already finished eating so I decided to go talk to him.
"Hey guys, I'll be right back, if I don't come back during dinner, I'll see you in the compound, alright?" I said to Josh and Sarah.
"Yeah, alright," Sarah said.
"See ya," Josh said right before I left.
I went up to Eric, tried to act super nonchalantly, but then I realized that he's a leader of this faction, he works with Four in initiation, which means he trains me so everything's normal about this, right? I hope so.
"Hey, Eric?" I say and he turns around.
"What you want, kid?" his face expression drops when he sees me.
"Wow, you could've at least faked being happy to see me, huh?" I say annoyed.
"Well, no can do," he says as I roll my eyes.
"You know, Four is onto us, and I still haven't found that Tob-" I say as he cuts me off.
"Shhhh! What, you want everyone hearing about this?" he says as he drags me out of the dining hall.
"Don't touch me," I say in an annoying tone. "Why can nobody hear his name? Isn't he a part of this faction?" I ask.
"Of course he is, but he goes by another name, so don't you even think about walking around asking for," he says as he lowers his voice. "Tobias Eaton,"
"Goes by another name? Oh, well that's just great isn't it? How the hell am I supposed to find him now," I ask furiously.
"Look, I know it'll be hard but Jeanine made me promise not to make this easy for you. Just, you know, look for someone who uses a nickname, oh, and someone that looks like you. I mean he's your brother, after all, right?" he says.
"Right," I say, completely lost in my thoughts as I look back into the dining hall, scanning the crowd, looking for someone who could possibly look like me.

authors note: sorry that this chapter is short, but I didn't know what else to add to it. I find it so funny that she can't even realize who her brother is, anyways.
