After I stormed off I had no idea where I was going, I was completely lost. I was hoping I'd just somehow find my way to the stairs that lead to our so-called 'bedroom'. I still can't believe they put boys and girls together. I'd talk to Eric about it but I'm pretty sure he'd just call me petty and then tell me to deal with it.
I've been walking for like 10-15 minutes, the other initiates are either back in the compound or at the medic. I'm probably walking around in circles. When I cross a corner for the hundredth time I see a group of people. More specifically the group that attacked us. I quickly run the other way when someone shouts in my direction.
"Hey! Aren't you the one who won your first training session, talked back to Four, and then stormed off?" I turn around and see it's the girl who congratulated me.
I should be mad after they attacked all of us but for all I know they could've been forced to do it.
"I'm Christina," she says smiling. It was more of a grin than a smile. She seemed okay.
"That was you, wasn't it?" She asked again. That's when I realized I hadn't said anything, I just stood there staring at the group in disbelief.
"Oh, um, sorry, yeah that was me," I stutter.
"No need to be shy, what's your name?" She asks. Oh shit, I forgot it.
Liz, come on. What's your name? It's a simple question. What is your name? J- something J. Jessica? Oh yeah, Jessica Damon. "I'm Jessica, but everyone just calls me Jess," I say smiling.
"Nice to meet you, Jess, I think you'll do great in dauntless," she says, still smiling. Wait no, again it's more like grinning.
"Are you lost? Are you looking for the sleeping compound for the initiates?" she asks me worried.
"Oh, yeah I totally forgot where it was, I just arrived a few hours ago like I mentioned so I don't really know my way around here," I sigh.
"Don't worry, I'll show you where it is and maybe give you a tour if you want," she frowns. "But first I need to bring my friend to the medic, wanna walk with us?" she asks.
"Of course-" I'm about to respond when I see her friend. It's the blonde girl that attacked me first, from behind, the one that Josh knocked unconscious.
"Uh- you know, actually, I'm not lost I-" I start walking backward when I stumble into someone. "Sorry-" I look up and I realize who it is. It's the one and only, Four.
"Nice seeing you here, Jess," he says, obviously fake smiling.
"I never said you could call me Jess," I say angrily.
He frowns. "Thank you for offering to show her back to her compound, Christina, but since I'm here I might as well take her," he smiles at Christina and she doesn't think much of it.
"Come on," he says and gestures me to walk with him. I groan. I really hate this dude.
I know he didn't come there just to take me to the compound and the nosy kid I am, I want my answers. "What is it?" I say eager but also annoyed. He stops and drags me into a room, then shuts the door.
"What the hell is your deal?" he asks me. "Excuse me?-" I respond.
"You heard what I said, what's your-" I cut him off. "Deal? Yeah, I heard. And I don't know what you're talking about," I say nonchalantly.
"It's impossible," he's in deep thinking. "What is?" he can't find out what I'm doing here. I have to find Eric.
"You're from Erudite, right?" he asks. "Correct," I say, knowing that it ain't.
"And you've never had any special training?" he asks. "Correct," I say again.
I mean, I've had training, such as hunting and spying on people for my mother, but never personal training in combat fighting so technically I'm telling the truth, right? He interrupts my thoughts.
"Then how the hell did you manage to be the only one left of the new initiates standing? I mean you kicked ass out there, how?" He's in disbelief.
"Oh stop it Four, you're making me blush," I say sarcastically, without emotion.
He rolls his eyes "I'm asking you a question," he sounds stunned.
"Well, I'm sorry detective Holmes, but I don't have the answer to your question," I say. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to head back to my compound, my friends must be very worried about me," I say innocently as I walk to the door.
"Are you some kind of a secret mission?" he asks. I turn around. I'm about to laugh but he looks serious. Come on Liz, keep it to yourself.
"If I was, I wouldn't tell you," I say turning back to the door.
"Why?" he asks eagerly.
"Because then it wouldn't be a secret," I chuckle as I walk out the door.
