(Elizabeth's POV)
I woke up the third time tonight and checked the time. it's almost 2am. how many times will I have to wake up before actually being able to fall asleep? I know I won't get a good night's sleep tonight so I might as well explore the chambers of dauntless.
I hear movement somewhere from the right side of the sleeping quarters and quickly turn my flashlight on to see what's going on. I see nothing. Only the other initiates sleeping peacefully in their beds.
I put on the dauntless clothes I got a few weeks ago. Wow, I can't even remember when I came here, has it been that long? or has this journey just been that eventful? Probably the second one.
I grab some boots and then head out of the sleeping quarters. To double-check, I turn my flashlight on and quickly scan the room to make sure nobody saw me sneak away. Luckily, no one's awake which means no questions or suspicions. YAY ME *clap clap clap*
(a/n: if you don't understand that zack and cody reference, goodbye)I've been walking around the dauntless compounds for a good hour and a half now. I'm pretty sure I've been walking in circles, but I can't tell because it's so dark. I only know my way to the dining hall, which is useless in the middle of the night, Eric's apartment, which is also useless since he sleeps like a rock, nothing wakes him up. I tried back in Erudite when my mind was pouring with questions but he didn't budge. The only option left is the training room.
It takes me another twenty minutes to figure out where I am exactly and when I've finally figured it out it takes me around five minutes to get to the training room. Surprisingly, the lights are still on, which means either someone is in there or someone just simply forgot to turn them off at the end of the day. My curious mind tells me it's the first option, so I'm careful when I walk into the room. I take look around for a moment, but there's no one there.
After a while, I give up looking and walk over to where the table of throwing knives is and practice using them. I don't hit every time, in fact, I don't hit at all which frustrates me a lot. I start throwing more aggressively each time and the knives start bouncing off the wall, back at me. Before I decide to take a break from throwing I let one more knife swift through the air, and again, it bounces back, right past my head. I didn't hear it hit the ground behind me so I turn around."Woah, slow down there," A figure says, standing right behind me, holding the knife in their left hand.
"Who is it?" I can't quite see in the dark-lit room. "Step into the light, please,"
Four steps into the light. Of course.
